Pharmacological action
Combined preparation based on bee venom for external use.
Provides local irritant effect due to stimulation of peripheral nerve endings. It has a direct vasodilating effect, which leads to an improvement in the supply of oxygen to tissues, accelerates the breakdown of pain-causing metabolic products. Methyl salicylate and allyl isothiocyanate cause flushing of the skin, have analgesic and warming effects.
Apizartron promotes metabolism, increase the elasticity of connective tissue and muscles, and decrease muscle tone.
The action develops a few minutes after applying the drug to the affected area.
Contraindications
Severe chronic renal failure.
Severe liver disease.
Skin diseases.
Neoplasms.
Inhibition of bone marrow hematopoiesis.
Mental illness.
Acute arthritis.
Children under 12 years old.
Hypersensitivity to bee venom, salicylates, isothiocyanates.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of Apizartron ointment during pregnancy and during lactation (breastfeeding) is not recommended.
Special instructions
The drug should not be applied to damaged and irritated skin, as well as to areas affected by skin disease.
In patients with renal failure, Apizartron should not be used on extensive skin surfaces for a long time.
Avoid contact of the ointment with eyes, mucous membranes and open wounds.
Composition of
100 g of ointment contain:
Active ingredients: bee venom - 3 mg methyl salicylate - 10 g allyl isothiocyanate - 1 g.
Excipients: sodium lauryl sulfate - 700 mg, white petrolatum - 6 g, emulsified cetoste - 14 g of cetoste sodium cetyl stearyl sulfate - 1.4 g, cetostearyl alcohol - 12.6 g), water - up to 100 g.
Dosage and administration
A strip of ointment 3-5 cm long is distributed in the lesion area to a layer about 1 mm thick and left for 2-3 minutes (depending on the reactivity of the body) until a reaction to the application of the drug appears (redness, feeling of warmth ) Then slowly and intensively rub the ointment into the skin. To enhance the therapeutic effect, it is recommended to keep the treated areas of the body warm. As a rule, Apizartron ointment is used 2-3 times / day until the symptoms of the disease disappear.
After applying Apizartron, hands should be thoroughly washed with soap and water.
Side effects
Allergic reactions: rarely - skin rash, itching in the area of ointment.
