DESCRIPTION
Metrifarmum (Metrifarmum) - a veterinary drug used in cows with subacute and chronic endometritis. The drug is an oily suspension from white to cream color.
COMPOSITION
One syringe contains 500 mg of cefapirin benzathine salt and excipients.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Cefapirin, which is part of the drug, belongs to the first generation cephalosporin antibiotics and has a bactericidal effect. Possesses high antistaphylococcal activity, including against benzylpenicillin-resistant strains that are involved in the etiology of endometritis. Resistant to? -lactamazam. Not active against viruses, chlamydia, mycoplasma and pathogenic fungi.
The mechanism of action of the drug is to suppress the biosynthesis of peptoglycan of the microbial cell wall.
After a single injection, the minimum inhibitory concentration of cefapirin for microorganisms in the endometrial tissues is maintained for at least 48 hours.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
The drug is used in cows with subacute and chronic endometritis.
The drug is administered once, intrauterinely at a dose of 19.0 g (contents of 1 syringe). To administer the drug, the syringe is connected to an insemination pipette or intrauterine catheter. Through the rectum, the cervix is ​​grasped by hand and fixed. A pipette or catheter is carefully inserted through the cervical canal into its cavity and the contents of the syringe are squeezed out by pressing the plunger. In the case of severe forms of endometritis, the drug is re-administered after 48 hours.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 48 hours after the last injection of the drug. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the specified period can be used for feeding carnivores. Milk obtained from cows when using the drug is used without restrictions.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The drug is contraindicated in animals with hypersensitivity to cephalosporins.
SIDE EFFECTS
When allergic reactions appear, the drug is discontinued and antihistamines (allervet, diprazine) and calcium preparations (calcium chloride or calcium gluconate) are administered. It is not recommended to administer the drug with antibiotics of other groups. The drug is not used for exudative forms of acute and subacute endometritis.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The drug is stored according to list B in a dry, dark place at a temperature from 0 В° C to plus 25 В° C. The shelf life of the drug is 2 years from the date of manufacture, subject to the rules of storage and transportation.
