Which bowl size should you choose?

For most women, both new to the cup, we recommend using the Normal (L) size cup.

The Normal size bowl is recommended for women with normal discharge.

This cup is universal and suitable for both those who have given birth and those who have not given birth for the entire period of menstruation.

The small cup (S) is recommended for scanty discharge and acts as a cup for the last, less heavy days of menstruation.

Not suitable for use in the early days of your period.

Before the first use, the bowl must be disinfected by boiling for 5 minutes or using a disinfectant (eg chlorhexidine). For ease of insertion (usually not a problem during menstruation), you can use a water-based lubricant gel or simply moisten the cup with water. It is recommended to insert and remove the bowl while sitting or standing, in the position that is most comfortable for you. It is optimal to practice inserting the cup between periods, relaxing as much as possible on first use. To insert the bowl, it must be folded in a certain way. After you have folded the cup, gently insert it into the vagina and release your fingers. The cup should open fully and join the walls of the vagina.

Depending on the strength of your period, the maximum time the cup can be inside is 12 hours.

If you have a very heavy period, you should empty the cup more often, perhaps every few hours or less.

To remove the bowl, feel for the stem (but do not pull on it) and the bottom of the bowl in the selected comfortable position.

Press down on the bottom of the bowl to release the pressure and gently pull out the bowl while holding the tail.

To facilitate removal of the cup, you can tense the vaginal muscles (“push”) to push the cup toward the exit.

Taking out the bowl, you also need to relax internally as much as possible.

You can also place your finger between the cup and the vaginal wall to break the pressure and remove the cup.

The stem (tail) is not intended to remove the bowl without breaking the pressure!

The stem of the bowl is very soft and not felt inside. If, nevertheless, it gives you discomfort, you can cut off a small piece from the tail first, and then check the bowl to see how comfortable you are. You can remove the tail completely, the main thing is to be careful not to damage the bowl itself. The optimal length of the ponytail when you do not feel it at all inside.

At the end of use, the bowl should be washed, boiled in water, or disinfectants (such as chlorhexidine) should be used. This can also be done during your period. Caring for the bowl boils down to thoroughly rinsing it with water, you can use natural, fragrance-free soap or disinfectants. This procedure should be done as soon as possible after you empty your menstrual cup. This will prevent the blood from drying out. If you don't have water at your disposal, you can use, for example, clean paper. From time to time, the small pressure holes in the top of the bowl should be checked for patency. Careful regular cup maintenance will ensure a long life for your menstrual cup.

If your bowl is leaking, check if it is correctly positioned.

To do this, use your fingers to check whether the cup is completely unfolded and whether its walls are in contact with the walls of the vagina.

Also check the patency of the low pressure ports.

In the event that none of the suggested solutions helped to solve your problem, it is likely that you have chosen the wrong size.

For size S (small), the problem is solved by using a larger bowl.

For size L (large), problems can be solved by training specific muscles.
