DESCRIPTION

Meloxidil (Meloxidyl) - the drug is used in dogs to treat inflammation in acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system. In appearance, Meloxidil is a light yellow suspension. During storage, the formation of a precipitate is allowed, which, when shaken, forms a uniform suspension.

COMPOSITION

Meloxidil as an active ingredient contains 0.15 g of meloxicam in 100 ml, and xanthan gum, anhydrous colloidal silicon, sorbitol, glycerin, xylitol, sodium benzoate, citric acid and water as auxiliary substances.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Pharmacotherapeutic group of the medicinal product for veterinary use: non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Meloxicam, which is part of Meloxidil, belongs to the NSAIDs of the oxicam group and has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects.

The mechanism of action of meloxicam is to suppress the production of cyclooxygenase (COX) in the arachidonic acid cycle, while the production of COX-P is mainly suppressed, under the action of which the synthesis of inflammatory prostaglandins (PGE1 and PGE2), causing inflammation, edema and pain, occurs.

After oral administration, meloxicam is well absorbed from the intestines of dogs and within 7, 5 hours reaches the maximum concentration in the blood plasma, the half-life is 24 hours. Meloxicam is metabolized in the liver and excreted in the bile (75%) as a metabolite of glucuronic acid.

PURPOSE

Meloxidil is used in dogs to treat inflammation in acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthritis, arthrosis, dislocations, edema, synovitis, tenosynovitis).

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Meloxidil is administered with feed once a day at a dose of 0.2 mg / kg of meloxidil on the first day of treatment, then in a maintenance dose of 0.1 mg / kg of meloxidil for 10 days. The clinical response occurs 3-4 days after the start of the drug. Each package is equipped with two measuring syringes, which allows the most accurate dosage of the drug for small and large breeds of dogs.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Meloxidil is not recommended for use in conjunction with other NSAIDs, glucocorticoids, diuretics, anticoagulants, aminoglycoside antibiotics and other drugs, which are characterized by a high degree of association with serum proteins due to the likelihood of increased toxicity of the drug.

In the absence of the effectiveness of treatment with other NSAIDs, Meloxidil is prescribed no earlier than 24 hours after the discontinuation of the previous drug under the supervision of a veterinarian.

The use of the drug in animals in a state of dehydration, hypovolemia and hypotension is potentially dangerous due to the possible toxic effect of meloxicam on the kidneys. In case of extreme necessity, when prescribing Meloxidil to such animals, the daily dose should be halved and the clinical condition should be closely monitored.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Contraindication to the use of Meloxidil is individual hypersensitivity to meloxicam, ulcer of 1 stomach and 12 duodenal ulcer, hemorrhagic V syndrome, severe cardiac, hepatic and renal failure, pregnancy and lactation, age up to 6 weeks.

The drug is contraindicated for use in females during pregnancy and lactation, as well as in puppies under 6 weeks of age.

SIDE EFFECTS

In recommended doses, the drug is well tolerated by dogs. In rare cases, possible: loss of appetite, apathy, vomiting, diarrhea, occult blood in the feces. Side effects usually appear in the first week of treatment and in most cases go away on their own after drug withdrawal.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of manufacture. After opening the bottle, the drug can be used within 6 months. It is forbidden to use the medicinal product after the expiration date.

Store Meloxidil in the manufacturer's packaging at a temperature from 0 В° C to 25 В° C.

PACKAGING

Meloxidil is produced packaged in 10 ml in polymer bottles of appropriate capacity, which are packed in cardboard boxes and supplied with two measuring syringes designed for dogs weighing up to 7 kg and dogs weighing more than 7 kg. Each package of the drug is supplied with instructions for use.
