Pharmacological action
Melaxen - an adaptogenic drug, chemical analogue of the biogenic amine melatonin.
Synthesized from amino acids of plant origin. The chemical formula is N-acetyl-5-methoxytryptamine, molecular weight 232. It is soluble in water, alcohol, lipids.
Is a synthetic analogue of the hormone pineal gland. Normalizes circadian rhythms. It regulates the sleep-wake cycle, daily changes in motor activity and body temperature.
