Pharmacological action

Immunostimulating, antiviral, anti-inflammatory

Cycloferon is a low molecular weight inducer of interferon, which determines a wide range of its pharmacological activity (antiviral, immunomodulating, anti-inflammatory, etc.).

The main producing cells of interferon after Cycloferon administration are macrophages, T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes, fibroblasts, epithelial cells. Depending on the type of infection, one or another link in the immune system is activated. The drug induces high titers of interferon in organs and tissues containing lymphoid elements (spleen, liver, lungs), activates bone marrow stem cells, stimulating the formation of granulocytes. Cycloferon activates T-lymphocytes and natural killer cells, normalizes the balance between subpopulations of T-helpers and T-suppressors. Overcomes the blood-brain barrier.

Cycloferon is effective against tick-borne encephalitis, influenza, hepatitis, herpes, cytomegalovirus, human immunodeficiency virus, papilloma virus and other viruses.

The drug has been found to be highly effective in the complex treatment of acute and chronic bacterial infections (chlamydia, erysipelas, bronchitis, pneumonia, postoperative complications, bacterial and fungal infections of the genitourinary tract, peptic ulcer) as a component of immunotherapy.

Cycloferon is highly effective in rheumatic and systemic diseases of the connective tissue, suppressing autoimmune reactions and providing anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects.

The immunomodulatory effect of cycloferon is expressed in the activation of phagocytosis, natural killer cells, cytotoxic T-lymphocytes and correction of the body's immune status in immunodeficient and autoimmune conditions of various origins

Indications

Cycloferon is used in adults and children over 4 years of age.

In adults: -in the treatment of HIV infection (stages 2A-3B)

-in the complex treatment of neuroinfections (serous meningitis, tick-borne borreliosis (Lyme disease), multiple sclerosis, etc.)

-in the treatment of viral hepatitis (A, B, C), herpes and cytomegalovirus

infection with secondary immunodeficiencies of various etiologies: acute and chronic bacterial and fungal infections, burns, radiation injuries, peptic ulcer and other immunodeficiency

with chlamydial infections (venereal lymphogranuloma, urogenital chlamydia s chlamydial reactive arthritis)

Contraindications

Composition

1 ml contains 50 mg meglumine acridone acetate * in terms of acridonoacetic acid

Excipients: benzalkonium chloride - 0.1 mg, 1,2-propylene glycol - up to 1 ml.

Dosage and administration of

For herpetic infections, the liniment is applied thinly to the affected area 1-2 times / day for 5 days. With genital herpes - intraurethral (intravaginal) instillations 1 time / day in 5 ml for 10-15 days daily. Perhaps a combination of liniment with other antiherpetic agents (both systemic and local).

In the treatment of nonspecific and candidal urethritis, intraurethral instillations are performed in a volume of 5-10 ml, depending on the level of damage to the urethra. If the upper part of the urethra in men is damaged, the cannula of the syringe with liniment is inserted into the external opening of the urethra, then the opening is clamped for 1.5-3 minutes, after which the instillation solution is evacuated by gravity. After 30 minutes, the patient is advised to urinate. A longer exposure may lead to swelling of the urethral mucosa. The course of treatment is 10-14 days. In case of lesions of the posterior urethra, the area of ​​the seminal glands, intraurethral instillations through a catheter are used in a volume of 5-10 ml of the drug for 10-14 days every other day (for a course of 5-7 instillations).

In the treatment of urethritis of a specific etiology, the combined use of intraurethral instillations of Cycloferon with specific antimicrobial drugs according to traditional regimens.

With balanoposthitis, the glans penis and foreskin should be treated with Cycloferon liniment 1 time / day (1/2 bottle or tube of 5 ml) for 10-14 days.

In the treatment of candidal vaginitis, nonspecific vaginitis (endocervicitis) and bacterial vaginosis, the drug can be used both as monotherapy and during complex treatment. Apply intravaginal instillations of the drug in 5-10 ml, for 10-15 days, 1-2 times / day. In parallel, in case of combined damage to the vaginal mucosa and urethra, it is advisable to use intravaginal and intraurethral instillations in volume (5 ml daily for 10-14 days). It is possible to use tampons soaked in liniment.

In chronic forms of the disease, the drug goes well with the use of official medicines (vaginal tablets, suppositories).

For intravaginal use, open the tube, puncture the membrane with a disposable needle with a syringe (volume 5 ml), draw a liniment, remove and discard the needle. Insert the filled syringe in the prone position into the vagina and squeeze out the liniment using the piston. If there is a vaginal applicator in the package: puncture the tube membrane, screw the applicator all the way to the tube opening. Squeeze liniment into the cavity of the applicator until the entire piston is pushed out. Remove the filled applicator from the tube opening, insert into the vagina and squeeze out the liniment using the piston. To prevent free evacuation of the drug, the entrance to the vagina is swabbed with a small sterile cotton swab for 2-3 hours.

In the treatment of chronic periodontitis, it is advisable to rinse periodontal pockets with an antiseptic before applying liniment, then apply liniment with a cotton swab in a volume of 1.5 ml (1/3 tube) to the gums using the application method (do not rub) 1-2 times / day with an interval of 10-12 hours. The duration of therapy is 12-14 days.

With all indications, if necessary, you can repeat the course of treatment with cycloferon after 14 days.

Side effects

Local reactions: possibly short-term burning, slight local hyperemia.

Other: allergic reactions.

Side effects are usually mild and do not require discontinuation of the drug.

Drug Interaction

Cycloferon is compatible with all drugs used in the treatment of these diseases (including interferons, chemotherapeutic drugs).

When used together, cycloferon enhances the action of antibiotics, antiseptics and antifungal agents.
