Infections of the eye and its appendages:

• blepharitis

In case of a mild infectious process - 1-2 drops of the drug are instilled every 4-6 hours. In the case of a severe infectious process, the drug is instilled every hour, as the inflammation decreases, the frequency of drug instillations decreases. Shake the bottle with drops before use.

neomycin sulfate 3500 U

polymyxin B sulfate 6000 U

dexamethasone 1 mg

excipients: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose - 0.5%, polysorbate 20; neutral additives; distilled water preservative: benzalkonium chloride - 0.004%

in 5 ml vials (with 'Drop Tainer Щ' dosing device); in a cardboard box 1 bottle.

• Individual hypersensitivity to any of the components of this drug;

• viral eye diseases (including keratitis caused by herpes simplex, chickenpox);

• mycobacterial eye infection;

• tuberculous eye diseases;

• acute shingles;

• fungal diseases of the eyes;

• condition after removal of a corneal foreign body;

• purulent infection of the mucous membrane of the eye and eyelids caused by microorganisms resistant to the action of neomycin, purulent corneal ulcer.

It is prescribed with caution for glaucoma, cataracts.

pharmachologic effect

Combined preparation for topical use in ophthalmology. Neomycin has a bactericidal effect, disrupting bacterial cell protein synthesis. Active against Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium diphteriae, Streptococcus viridans, Escherichia coli, Klepsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Aerobacter aerogenes, Haemophillus influenzae. The mechanism of action of polymyxin B is mainly due to the blockade of the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of bacterial cells. Active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Aerobacter aerogenes, Escherichia coli, Klepsiella pneumoniae, Koch-Weeks bacillus. Dexamethasone GCS. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effects. It has an anti-exudative effect. Dexamethasone effectively suppresses inflammation.The combination of corticosteroids with antibiotics can reduce the risk of developing an infectious process.

Side effect

Local.

Allergic reaction, accompanied by itching and swelling of the eyelids, conjunctival hyperemia.

Side effects due to the steroid component: increased intraocular pressure with possible subsequent development of glaucoma, damage to the optic nerve and visual fields (when using the drug for more than 10 days, monitoring of intraocular pressure is necessary); posterior subcapsular cataract, slowing down the wound healing process. Topical application of steroids for diseases that cause thinning of the cornea or sclera can lead to their perforation.

Secondary infection.

The development of a secondary infection is observed after the use of combined preparations containing corticosteroids in combination with antibiotics. With prolonged use of steroids, fungal infections of the cornea may develop. The appearance of non-healing ulcers on the cornea after prolonged treatment with steroid drugs may indicate the development of fungal invasion. Secondary bacterial infection can occur as a result of suppression of the protective reaction of the patient's body.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

There is no sufficient experience in the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation. It can be used for the treatment of pregnant women as directed by the attending physician, if the expected therapeutic effect outweighs the risk of developing possible side effects. Discontinue use of the drug during breastfeeding.

Application in children

The safety and efficacy of the drug for children have not been established.

The bottle must be closed after each use. Shake the bottle before use.

Drug interactions

Interaction with other medicinal products is currently not known. In the case of use with other local ophthalmic drugs, the interval between their use should be at least 10 minutes.
