GCS for local use in ophthalmology. It has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic and desensitizing effect. The drug has no mineralocorticoid activity.
Pharmacokinetics
Data on the pharmacokinetics of the drug Maxidex are not provided.
Side effect
From the side of the organ of vision: with prolonged local use of GCS, there may be: increased intraocular pressure with possible subsequent development of glaucoma; posterior subcapsular cataract formation; slowing down the wound healing process (in diseases that cause thinning of the cornea or sclera, perforation of the fibrous membrane is possible). After the use of drugs containing GCS, the development of a secondary infection (including fungal) can be observed, as a result of suppression of the patient's body defense reaction. In acute purulent diseases of the eye, GCS can mask or intensify the existing infectious process. The appearance of non-healing ulcers on the cornea after prolonged treatment with steroid drugs may indicate the development of fungal invasion.
