DESCRIPTION

Mastivet (Mastivetum) is a veterinary drug used in large and small ruminants with mastitis of bacterial etiology. In appearance, the drug is a suspension of light yellow to yellow-brown color.

COMPOSITION

One syringe (8.0 g) contains 250.0 mg of neomycin sulfate, 200.0 mg of oxytetracycline hydrochloride, 10.0 mg of prednisolone, excipients, base up to 8.0 g.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Oxytetracycline hydrochloride, which is part of the drug, belongs to the antibiotics of the tetracyclines group, has a bactericidal effect on many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Escherichia coli, Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella spp., Streptococcus agalactiae, as well as Actinomyces pyogenes. is a violation of protein synthesis at the level of ribosomes.

Neomycin sulfate is an antibiotic from the aminoglycoside group, effective against many gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, including Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Corynebacterium spp. Neomycin sulfate is inactive against Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Fungi and protozoa are resistant to it. The mechanism of action of neomycin is in violation of protein synthesis at the level of ribosomes, violation of the integrity of the cytoplasmic membrane.

Prednisolone has anti-inflammatory and desinsibilizing effects.

The antibiotics that make up the drug have a synergistic effect with each other.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Mastevet is used in large and small ruminants with mastitis of bacterial etiology.

The drug is administered intracisternally: for cattle the contents of one syringe, for small ruminants -? syringe after submission once a day for 3 - 5 days.

Before using the syringe with the drug, it is recommended to shake it thoroughly, and if necessary, warm it up to the body temperature of the animal.

Before using the drug, the secret of the diseased lobe of the mammary gland must be carefully milked, the skin of the nipple sphincter must be treated with an antiseptic.

Subsequent milking of the secret of the diseased lobe of the mammary gland can be carried out no earlier than six hours after the administration of the drug, in a separate dish, followed by disposal of the secret by boiling or mixing with a disinfectant (glutex, bleach, etc.).

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

The use of the drug does not exclude the use of pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy.

Meat and milk of animals for food purposes may be used no earlier than 21 days after the last use of the drug. In the event of the forced slaughter of animals before the established date, the meat is used to feed carnivores.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The use of the drug is contraindicated in animals with allergic reactions to antibiotics of the aminoglycoside groups, tetracyclines.

SIDE EFFECTS

If allergic reactions occur, the drug should be discontinued, antihistamines (diphenhydramine, diprazine) and calcium preparations (calcium chloride, calcium gluconate) should be prescribed.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

The drug is stored according to list B in a dry, dark place at a temperature from 0 В° C to plus 25 В° C. The shelf life of the drug is 2 years from the date of manufacture, subject to the rules of storage and transportation.
