Mastenitis for the treatment of cow mastitis 3.6g
DESCRIPTION
Mastenit is a veterinary drug for the treatment of cow mastitis. In appearance, the drug is a thick suspension from white to light gray.
COMPOSITION
Mastenit in 1 syringe 3.6 g contains cloxacillin (in terms of base) - 600 mg as an active ingredient, and auxiliary substances: benzathine diacetate, butylhydroxytoluene (ionol), colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide (Aerosil 300) and liquid paraffin.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Mastenit refers to antibacterial drugs of the group of semi-synthetic penicillins.
Cloxacillin - the active ingredient of Mastenit has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action, is active against gram-positive bacteria usually isolated from udder secretions during the dry period, including Streptococcus spp (including Streptococcus agalactiae), Staphylococcus spp (including strains resistant to peninsula) ) and Corynebacterium pyogenes.
The mechanism of antibacterial action is to suppress the functional activity of bacterial transpeptidase enzymes involved in binding of the main component to the inaccurate wall of microorganisms - peptidoglycan, which leads to the death of bacteria.
Mastenit creates a high level of antibiotic in the udder tissues, which ensures the therapeutic effect of the drug in dry cows lasting at least 7 weeks.
The drug belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Mastenit is used once for the treatment of cow mastitis before transferring to the dry period, but no later than 42 days before the expected calving.
The use of the drug during pregnancy is allowed. The drug is not intended for use during lactation. The drug is not intended for use in young animals.
Mastenit is administered to cows just before starting. Milk must be milked before the administration of Mastenit. The outside of the nipple is wiped with a 70% alcohol solution or a special antiseptic napkin.
For calm animals, only the upper part of the lid covering the syringe cannula is removed, and for restless animals it is completely removed. After that, the cannula of the syringe is inserted into the opening of the nipple and, by gently pressing the plunger, the drug is injected. The contents of one syringe are injected into each quarter of the udder.
