DESCRIPTION
Marfloxin is a drug for the treatment of dogs with diseases of bacterial and mycoplasma etiology. Dosage form: tablets for oral administration, are biconvex capsule-shaped tablets of pale yellow-brown color with possible dark and white blotches, with a risk on both sides.
COMPOSITION
The active ingredient contains 80mg marbofloxacin in one tablet, and the excipients: lactose monohydrate, povidone, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, meat flavoring, hydrogenated castor oil, yeast powder, anhydrous silica.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Marfloxin belongs to antibacterial drugs of the fluoroquinolone group.
The drug has a broad spectrum of bactericidal action, based on the suppression of bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, involved in the replication of DNA of microorganisms.
Marbofloxacin, the active ingredient of Marfloxin tablets, is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, incl. Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Citrobacter freundii, Enterobacter cloacae, Serratia marcescens, Morganella morganii, Proteus spp, Klebsiella spp, Shigella spp, Pasteurella spp, Haemophilus spp, Moraxella spp, Stseudomonas spp, Myraxella spp, Stseudomonas spp, ..
After oral administration of the drug, marbofloxacin is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body.
The bioavailability of marbofloxacin after oral administration is almost 100%. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 2.0 hours, the half-life is 14 hours in dogs and 10 hours in cats. Marbofloxacin is excreted from the body of animals mainly unchanged in urine and bile.
Marfloxin '' tablets according to the degree of impact on the body belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
INDICATIONS
Marfloxin tablets are used to treat dogs and cats with diseases of the respiratory system, genitourinary system, infections of the skin, soft tissues, infected wounds and other diseases of bacterial and mycoplasma etiology, the causative agents of which are sensitive to marbofloxacin.
APPLICATION
The drug is administered to animals once a day, individually in a crushed form with feed or injected forcibly onto the root of the tongue in a daily dose of 2 mg of marbofloxacin per 1 kg of animal weight.
The duration of treatment for dogs is from 7 to 14 days, for cats - from 3 to 10 days, depending on the course of the disease. Skipping the next dose of the drug should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to the use of the drug Marfloxin tablets is the increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug. It is forbidden to use the drug in puppies under 12 months old (puppies of large breeds - under 18 months old), as well as animals with lesions of the central nervous system.
OVERDOSE
In case of an overdose in animals, disturbances in the activity of the nervous system can be observed. Treatment is symptomatic.
SIDE EFFECTS
When using the drug in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications, as a rule, are not observed. In rare cases, more frequent bowel movements and softening of the stool are possible, these symptoms disappear spontaneously and do not require discontinuation of the drug.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
Store the medicinal product in the manufacturer's packaging, separately from food and feed, in a place protected from direct sunlight, at a temperature from 0 В° C to 25 В° C. The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of manufacture. It is forbidden to use the medicinal product after the expiration date.
