DESCRIPTION
Marfloxin tablets are a new generation of fluoroquinolones with excellent pharmacokinetic properties for a wide range of applications.
COMPOSITION
The drug as an active ingredient contains 20 mg of marbofloxacin in 1 tablet and excipients - povidone, magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, crospovidone, hydrogenated castor oil, meat flavoring, anhydrous silica, yeast powder.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Marbofloxacin belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones and has a broad spectrum of bactericidal action based on suppression of bacterial DNA replication.
Marbofloxacin is active against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms, including Salmonella typhimurium, Escherichia coli, Enterobacter cloacae, Citrobacter freundii, Morganella morganii, Serratia marcescens, Proteus spp, Shigella spp, Klebsiella spp, Haemomonella spp. , Staphylococci, Brucella canis, Mycoplasma spp., As well as Streptococci, etc.
After oral administration of the drug, marbofloxacin is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into all tissues and organs of the body. Bioavailability is about 100%. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached after two hours, the half-life is 10 hours in cats and 14 hours in dogs. Marbofloxacin is excreted from the body mainly unchanged with bile and urine.

APPLICATION
Marfloxin is used to treat cats and dogs with diseases of the genitourinary system, gastrointestinal tract and respiratory system, infections of soft tissues, skin and otitis media, infected wounds and other diseases of mycoplasma and bacterial etiology, the causative agents of which are sensitive to marbofloxacin.
DOSAGE
The drug is administered to cats and dogs once a day, individually with crushed food or injected into the root of the tongue forcibly. The daily dose depends on the weight and the animal and is 2 mg per 1 kg of animal weight.
The duration of the course of treatment is from five to forty days for infections of the skin and soft tissues, for diseases of the respiratory system from 1 to 3 weeks, for diseases of the genitourinary system - from 10 days to 4 weeks.
The drug should be given without gaps due to the fact that this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If a dose is missed, the use of marfloxin is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to the use of a drug is the individual hypersensitivity of a cat or dog to the components of the drug. It is forbidden to use puppies under 1 year old (puppies of large breeds - up to 1.5 years), kittens up to two months old, as well as animals with lesions of the central nervous system.
Simultaneously with cationic drugs (calcium, iron, aluminum, magnesium preparations), it is not recommended to use it due to a possible decrease in absorption in the gastrointestinal tract, as well as with tetracycline, macrolide antibiotics and chloramphenicol.
The drug is not intended for the treatment of productive animals.
SIDE EFFECTS
No side effects were found in animals when using marfloxin at the recommended dose. There may be phenomena from the gastrointestinal tract, such as softening of the stool and vomiting, which do not require discontinuation of the drug and disappear after treatment.
