Pharmacotherapeutic group: Expectorant vegetable origin.
Pharmacological Action: A decoction of licorice roots has an expectorant and anti-inflammatory effect.
Indications for use:
In the complex therapy of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract (mainly in the presence of poorly separated, thick and viscous secretions); in complex therapy for chronic inflammatory diseases of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to licorice drugs, pregnancy, lactation, bronchial asthma; gastritis, gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer during an exacerbation; children's age up to 1 year.
Method of administration and dosage:
About 8 g (2 tablespoons) of licorice roots are placed in an enamel bowl, 200 ml (1 glass) of chilled boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and heated in a boiling water bath for 30 minutes, cooled at room temperature for 10 minutes, filtered, the remaining raw materials wring out.
The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.
Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed orally 1 tablespoon 3-4 times a day. Children from 1 to 3 years old - 1 teaspoon 2-3 times a day, from 3 to 5 years old - 1 dessert spoon 2-3 times a day, from 5 to 12 years old - 1 dessert spoon 3-4 times in a day.
The course of treatment is 2-3 weeks.
It is recommended to shake the broth before use.
Side effect:
Allergic reactions are possible. With prolonged use in excess of the indicated dosages, an increase in blood pressure, hypokalemia, the appearance of peripheral edema due to a violation of water-salt metabolism is possible.
