DESCRIPTION

Lexoflon is a drug for the treatment of bacterial infections in cattle and pigs. Dosage form: injection solution. In appearance, Lexoflon is a clear solution from green-yellow to yellow.

COMPOSITION

1 ml of the drug contains: as an active substance levofloxacin (in the form of a hemihydrate) - 150 mg, as auxiliary substances hydrochloric acid and water for injection.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

The drug Lexoflon refers to antibacterial drugs.

Levofloxacin, which is part of the drug, is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone group, which has a bactericidal effect on aerobic gram-positive microorganisms (including Enterococcus spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp. (Including Staphylococcus aureus), Streptococcus spp.), Streptococcus spp. gram-negative microorganisms (including Acinetobacter spp., Campylobacter spp., Enterobacter spp., Escherichia coli, Haemophilus ducreyi, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae, Klebsiella spp., Moraxella catarrhalis? + mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris, Providencia spp., Pseudomonas spp., Salmonella spp., Serratia spp.), against anaerobic microorganisms (including Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium perfringens, Fusobacterium spp., Peptostreptococcus),as well as other microorganisms: Chlamydia pneumoniae, Chlamydia psittaci, Mycobacterium spp., Mycoplasma pneumoniae, Ricketsia spp.

The mechanism of action of levofloxacin is associated with the blockade of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, impaired supercoiling and stitching of deoxyribonucleic acid breaks, inhibition of the synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid, deep metabolic changes in the cytoplasm, cell wall and membranes.

Levofloxacin is rapidly and almost completely absorbed after parenteral administration. Bioavailability of levofloxacin is 99%, the concentration in blood serum reaches a maximum 2 hours after administration, the half-life is 7 hours. It penetrates well into organs and tissues: lungs, bronchial mucosa, phlegm, organs of the genitourinary system, polymorphonuclear leukocytes, alveolar macrophages. It is excreted from the body mainly by the kidneys by glomerular filtration or tubular secretion. Levofloxacin is mainly excreted in the urine unchanged within 48 hours. In lactating animals, it is also excreted in milk. Minor amounts were found in feces over a 72 hour period.

According to the degree of impact on the body, LexoflonВ® is classified as a low-hazard substance (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).

The simultaneous use of the drug with glucocorticoids is prohibited due to an increased risk of tendinitis and / or tendon rupture, as well as with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, tetracyclines and macrolides due to an increase in the toxic effect of levofloxacin. With simultaneous use with vitamin K antagonists, for example, warfarin, the risk of bleeding increases. Considering this, it is necessary to monitor the coagulation indicators. It is not recommended to use levofloxacin simultaneously with ethanol.

INDICATIONS

The drug Lexoflon is used in cattle and pigs to treat bacterial diseases of the respiratory system, digestive system, obstetric and gynecological diseases - metritis and mastitis, postpartum infections in sows (metritis, mastitis, agalactia), surgical diseases, including soft tissue infections. (such as abscesses, phlegmon) caused by pathogens sensitive to levofloxacin, including colibacillosis, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, staphylococcosis and mycoplasma infections.

For therapeutic and prophylactic purposes, the drug LeksoflonВ® is used in cattle and pigs for the treatment of bacterial infections in farms unfavorable for the disease when sick animals are detected.

APPLICATION

The drug Lexoflon is administered intramuscularly to animals in the following doses: cattle, pigs - at a dose of 1.0 ml per 30 kg of animal weight (5.0 mg of levofloxacin per 1 kg of body weight), daily for 3-5 days.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Skipping the next dose of the drug should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed as soon as possible in the same dosage and according to the same scheme. It is forbidden to enter a double dose to compensate for the missed dose.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The use of the drug for renal and hepatic insufficiency, as well as for hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolones, is prohibited. It is forbidden to use the drug Lexoflon for pregnant female animals. The drug is approved for use in young and lactating females.

OVERDOSE

In case of an overdose of the drug, anxiety, disorientation, loss of appetite, nausea, diarrhea are observed, rarely: tendon lesions (including tendonitis), joint and muscle pain. In these cases, it is necessary to stop the drug administration. There are no specific detoxification agents, general measures are used to remove the drug from the body and symptomatic therapy. If anaphylactic shock develops, animals should not be administered corticosteroids; it is recommended to use other antihistamines (tavegil, suprastin).

SIDE EFFECTS

When using the drug Lexoflon according to the instructions for use, side effects and complications were not established. If a persistent allergic reaction occurs, the drug is canceled, antihistamine and symptomatic therapy is recommended.

Slaughter for meat of cattle and pigs is carried out no earlier than 9 days after the last injection of the drug. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used for feeding fur animals. Milk can be used for food purposes no earlier than 96 hours after the last use of the drug. Milk obtained before the expiration of the specified period can be used for feeding animals after heat treatment.

PRECAUTIONS

When working with Lexoflon, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with medicines. When working with a medicinal product, it is prohibited to drink, smoke and eat. After handling the medicinal product, wash your hands with soap and water. It is forbidden to use empty packaging from under the medicinal product for household purposes, it must be disposed of with household waste.

FIRST AID MEASURES

People with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug should avoid direct contact with Lexoflon. In case of accidental contact of the drug Lexoflon with the skin or mucous membranes of the eyes, they must be rinsed with plenty of water. In case of allergic reactions or accidental ingestion of a drug into the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have instructions for use of the drug or a label with you).

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

Store the medicinal product in the manufacturer's sealed packaging, separately from food and feed, in a dry, dark place, at a temperature of 5 В° C to 25 В° C. The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 2 years from the date of production, after the first opening - 28 days.
