DESCRIPTION
Letainil (Letainilum) - a drug for the treatment of inflammatory processes is a colorless or with a yellowish tinge transparent solution without mechanical impurities.
COMPOSITION
1.0 cm3 of the drug contains 100 mg of ketoprofen.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Ketoirofen is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects.
The mechanism of action of ketoprofen is to suppress the synthesis of prostaglandins by disrupting the metabolism of arachidonic acid.
The analgesic effect of ketoprofen is associated with the inhibition of bradykinin, which excites painful nerve endings and thereby provokes pain. In addition to the anti-bradykinin activity, ketoprofen has an effect on the central nervous system, suppressing the perception of pain.
With intramuscular administration of the drug, the maximum concentration of ketoprofen in the blood plasma is observed after 30 minutes. The bioavailability of ketoprofen, depending on the animal species, varies from 85% to 100%. Ketoprofen is excreted from the body mainly through the kidneys.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Letaynil is used by animals (cattle, pigs, dogs and cats) for the treatment of inflammatory processes, for acute and chronic diseases of the musculoskeletal system (arthritis, dislocations, tendovaginitis, trauma), pain syndrome of various etiologies (traumatic and postoperative pain, colic) , and also as an antipyretic agent for diseases accompanied by fever and depression.
The drug is used in the following doses: dogs and cats 0.02 ml / kg body weight subcutaneously, intramuscularly or intravenously once a day for 1-5 days; cattle 0.03 ml / kg body weight intravenously or intramuscularly once a day for 1-5 days; pigs: 0.03 ml / kg body weight intramuscularly once a day for 1 - 3 days.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Letainil is not recommended for use in conjunction with other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, glucocorticoids, anticoagulants and diuretics. Do not mix with other medicines in the same syringe.
Slaughter of cattle for meat is allowed after 5 days, and pigs - 4 days after the last use of the drug. Meat of forcedly killed animals before the expiration of the specified period can be used as feed for carnivores.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Contraindication to the use of the drug is an allergy to ketoprofen and other components of the drug, stomach and duodenal ulcers, hemorrhagic syndrome, severe hepatic and renal failure, pregnancy.
SIDE EFFECTS
In recommended doses, Letainil does not cause complications in animals.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The drug is stored according to list B in the manufacturer's packaging in a dry, dark place at a temperature from 0 В° C to + 25 В° C. Expiration date 3 (three) years from the date of manufacture. After opening the bottle, the drug can be used within 7 days.
