DESCRIPTION

Lacto-Stop - a drug for eliminating the symptoms of false pregnancy; prevention and treatment of conditions caused by hyperprolactinemia in dogs and cats. In appearance it is a solution for oral administration.

COMPOSITION

Lacto-stop in 1 ml contains 50 Ојg of cabergoline and auxiliary components as an active ingredient.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Cabergoline, which is part of the drug, is a derivative of ergot alkaloids, a long-acting dopamine D2 receptor agonist. The drug stimulates the indicated receptors of the pituitary gland, causes a pronounced and prolonged inhibition of the secretion of the anterior lobe hormone - prolactin, preventing and suppressing physiological lactation and the psycho-physical changes associated with this process, restores the sexual cycle, fertilizing ability, eliminates the signs of false pregnancy in bitches. In large doses, cabergoline has a central dopaminergic effect.

When administered orally, cabergoline is metabolized in the liver, binding to plasma proteins is 40 - 42%. The time of the onset of the maximum effect is noted 48 hours after the application of the drug. Cabergoline, its metabolites are well distributed in tissues, but do not pass through the blood-placental barrier; in animal studies, more than 100-fold excess of the concentration of cabergoline, its metabolites in the pituitary gland, compared with the content in blood plasma, has been revealed. Cabergoline and metabolites are excreted by the kidneys and intestines (22% and 60%, respectively) within several days, with milk and less than 4% of the substance is found in urine unchanged.

In animals with moderate and severe renal insufficiency, no changes in cabergoline pharmacokinetics were found. Lacto-Stop, according to the degree of impact on the body of warm-blooded animals, belongs to low-hazard substances and in recommended doses does not have a sensitizing and local irritating effect.

INDICATIONS

Lacto-Stop is prescribed to eliminate the symptoms of false pregnancy, as well as to prevent lactational mastitis during early weaning of puppies and kittens, to prevent physiological lactation and treat disorders caused by hyperprolactinemia, including in animals with a history of pituitary adenoma (micro and macroprolactinoma) and with idiopathic hyperprolactinemia.

DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION

The drug is administered to females inside individually together with food or forcibly on the root of the tongue at the rate of 0.1 ml (or 3 drops) per 1 kg of animal weight once a day for 4-6 days. In the absence of effect or the appearance of symptoms of false pregnancy after stopping the administration of the drug, the course can be repeated.

SIDE EFFECTS

In rare cases, some animals in the first two days of treatment may experience a single vomiting, lack of appetite, drowsiness. In these cases, discontinuation of the drug is not required. In cases of exceeding the dose, it is possible: nasal congestion, vomiting, fainting, a sharp drop in blood pressure and hallucinations. The animals are prescribed supportive symptomatic therapy. Metoclopramide is used as an antidote.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Individual hypersensitivity to drug components. You should not use the drug during pregnancy due to the increased likelihood of abortion, animals with low blood pressure. It is not recommended to use the drug simultaneously with antagonists of dopamine D2 receptors (phenothiazine, butyrophenone, thioxanthene, metoclopramide derivatives), with antihypertensive and anesthetic drugs, and also prescribe after surgery due to a possible increase in the hypotensive effect.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Simultaneous administration with drugs that have a high degree of binding to plasma proteins is unlikely to affect the connection of cabergoline with plasma proteins.

SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE

In a dry place, protected from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and animals. Separated from food and feed at 5 to 25 В° C. Shelf life is 2 years. Opened vials can be stored for no more than 28 days.
