DESCRIPTION

Polypropylene capsule Kexton - has a cylindrical shape, orange in color with an identification number, equipped with wings. The contents of each capsule are 12 tablets of the same size. For intraruminal administration.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Kexton belongs to the group of antiketonemic drugs. Monensin sodium, which is a carboxylic polyester ionophore, is active against a number of gram-positive bacteria and is practically inactive against gram-negative bacteria that synthesize propionic acid in the rumen of ruminants. The mechanism of action of monensin is to change the state of potassium-sodium balance and energy metabolism in the bacterial cell, which leads to a slowdown in the rate of its growth and death. Due to a decrease in the number of cells producing salts of acetic and butyric acids, and an increase in the number of bacteria producing salts of propionic acid, the balance of volatile fatty acids in the rumen of ruminants is normalized, energy metabolism is activated, and the content of ketone bodies in the blood decreases,

After the introduction of Kexton, the scar fluid entering the capsule through the opening interacts with the tablets and, forming a gel mass, provides a slow (about 95 days), gradual and dosed (about 335 mg / day) release of monensin from the capsule into the rumen cavity.

INDICATIONS

Caxton is prescribed to dairy cows and heifers in the prenatal period in order to prevent subclinical and clinical forms of ketosis.

APPLICATION

Caxton is administered to cows and heifers using a bolus giver directly into the rumen cavity at the rate of 1 capsule per animal 3-4 weeks before calving. The drug is used once. When an animal regurgitates the inserted capsule, if it is not damaged, it is re-injected, in case of damage, a new capsule is used for re-introduction.

It is not allowed to use Kexton together with tiamulin, as well as 7 days and within 7 days after the end of its use.

STORAGE

Shelf life: 2 years in the manufacturer's sealed packaging at temperatures from 5 В° C to 25 В° C. After opening the package, the shelf life is 6 months.
