Kexton capsule applicator
DESCRIPTION
Kexton applicator is a device for introducing medicinal capsules to cows into the rumen cavity.
APPLICATION
Before the introduction of the capsule, the animal should be fixed so that the head and neck are in a strictly straight, extended position. The wings are folded at the capsule and then placed with the free end into the bolus applicator. The applicator is inserted into the oral cavity behind the dorsum of the tongue, preventing it from touching the molars. Strong pressure on the neck of the animal should not be allowed to avoid asphyxiation!
If the animal is correctly fixed and the applicator is inserted, no resistance should arise when the capsule is inserted (for any kind of resistance, the use of force is not allowed). Otherwise, remove the applicator, check the position of the animal's head and re-insert the applicator.
If the swallowing reflex is difficult, make sure the animal's head and applicator are in a straight line and the trigger is vertical.
