KETOSTERIL
Pharmacological action
Ketosteril - a combined drug.
Is a source of essential amino acids with minimal nitrogen intake. Ketone analogues of amino acids in the body are enzymatically transaminated to the corresponding L-amino acids, while splitting urea.
The drug promotes the utilization of nitrogen-containing metabolic products, protein anabolism while reducing serum urea concentration. Improves nitrogen metabolism. Reduces the concentration of potassium, magnesium and phosphate ions in the blood.
With the systematic use of the drug, an improvement in the condition of patients with chronic renal failure was noted. In some cases, it is possible to delay the start of dialysis.
Indications
Protein-energy deficiency, prevention and treatment of disorders in adults and children from 3 years old, caused by altered protein metabolism in chronic renal failure and with a restriction of protein in the diet.
It is mainly used in patients with chronic renal failure with a glomerular filtration rate below 25 ml / min, which does not exclude the use at a glomerular filtration rate and above 25 ml / min.
Contraindications
hypersensitivity
impaired amino acid metabolism
hypercalcemia.
With hereditary phenylketonuria, it should be borne in mind that the drug contains phenylalanine.
Special instructions
Use for impaired renal function: Ketosteril is used during the entire period when the glomerular filtration rate is less than 25 ml / min.
In case of hypercalcemia, it is recommended to reduce the dose of vitamin D. If hypercalcemia persists, you should reduce the dose of Ketosteril, as well as other sources of calcium.
It is necessary to regularly monitor the content of calcium and to control the decrease in the level of phosphates in the blood serum.
Ketosteril should be taken with food to improve its absorption and conversion into the corresponding amino acids. Adequate calorie intake is required.
Composition
Active substances:
DL-methyl-oxo-2-calcium valerate (a-keto analogue of isoleucine) 67 mg,
Methyl-4-oxo-2-calcium valenate (a-keto analog of leucine) 101 mg,
Oxo-2-phenyl-3-calcium propionate (a-keto analog of phenylalanine) 68 mg,
Methyl-oxo-2-calcium butyrate ( a-keto-analogue of valine) 86 mg,
DL-hydroxy-2-calcium methyl butyrate (a-hydroxy analog of methionine) 59 mg,
L-lysine monoacetate 105 mg, L-threonine 53 mg,
L-tryptophan 23 mg,
L- histidine 38 mg,
L-tyrosine 30 mg
Excipients:
corn starch,
polyvinylpyrrolidone,
talc,
silicon dioxide colloid,
magnesium stearate, srdlplplplplplplpp soluble rrolidone
Shell:
talc,
polyethylene glycol 6000,
quinoline yellow (E104),
eudragit E125,
triacetin,
titanium dioxide.
Dosage and administration
Inside, with food, without chewing. Adults and children from 3 years old - 1 tablet 5 kg / day or 0.1 g / kg / day. Unless otherwise prescribed, take 3 times a day.
Duration of use: Ketosteril® is prescribed during the entire period when the glomerular filtration rate is below 25 ml / min. In the pre-dialysis period, a protein content of not more than 40 g per day is recommended (depending on the degree of chronic renal failure). In dialysis patients, protein intake should be consistent with accepted standards.
The usual dose for an adult (body weight 70 kg) is 4–8 tablets 3 times a day. The usual dose for children is 1 tablet / 5 kg / day.
The recommended protein content in food for children from 3 to 10 years old is 1.4–0.8 g / kg / day, from 10 years old it is 1–0.6 g / kg / day.
Side effects
In some cases, hypercalcemia may develop.
In this case, it is recommended to reduce the intake of vitamin D. If hypercalcemia persists, reduce the dose of Ketosteril®, as well as other sources of calcium.
Drug Interactions
When prescribing calcium-containing drugs, an increase in serum calcium levels is possible.
As the uremic symptoms decrease under the influence of Ketosteril, the dose of simultaneously used aluminum hydroxide should be reduced accordingly.
In order not to disturb absorption in the intestine, do not take drugs that form difficultly soluble compounds with calcium (e.g. tetracyclines, quinolones, preparations containing iron, fluorine, and estramustine) along with Ketosteril.
There should be an interval of at least 2 hours between taking Ketosteril and similar drugs.
Storage conditions
Store in a dry, dark place at a temperature not exceeding 25 РC.
The Expiration of
is 3 years.
