Pharmacological action

Prospan - a herbal preparation.

Contains saponins, triterpenoids, flavonoids. It has an antitussive, expectorant and antispasmodic effect. Reduces the viscosity of sputum and facilitates its discharge. It has antimicrobial activity.

Indications

- acute infectious and inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by cough and catarrhal phenomena

- symptomatic treatment of chronic non-specific lung diseases.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Special instructions

With caution, prescribe a preparation in the form of a syrup for fructose intolerance.

The patient should be informed that if there is no improvement, a doctor should be consulted.

During storage, a slight clouding of the solution and a slight change in taste are possible, which does not affect the therapeutic properties of the drug.

Composition

5 ml contains dry ivy leaf extract 35 mg.

Dosage and administration of

A single dose for adults is 2-3 teaspoons,

for children over 6 years old and adolescents - 2 teaspoons,

for children aged 1 to 6 years - 1 teaspoon. Multiplicity of admission - 3 times / day.

In mild cases, the duration of treatment is 1 week.

To achieve a stable therapeutic effect, it is recommended to continue therapy for another 2-3 days after the improvement of the patients' condition.

After each use of the drug in the form of a syrup, the vial should be tightly closed.

Side effects

Possibly: allergic reactions when using the drug in the form of a syrup may cause loose stools (due to sorbitol content).

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored at room temperature.
