DESCRIPTION
Intrasan is used to treat subclinical and clinical (serous, catarrhal, purulent-catarrhal) mastitis of cows. In appearance, the preparation is a homogeneous thick mass from white to light yellow in color with a characteristic odor.
COMPOSITION
Intrasan 100 g contains 1 O g of dimethyl sulfoxide and 3 g of potassium iodide as active substances, and sodium thiosulfate, polyvinylpyrrolidone, solid fat type A, emulsifier and purified water as auxiliary substances.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Intrasan belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group: other non-narcotic analgesics, including non-steroidal and other anti-inflammatory drugs, in combinations.
The active ingredients of Intrasan penetrate deeply through the skin of the udder, have anti-inflammatory, decongestant, analgesic, antimicrobial effects, and normalize regenerative processes.
Dimethyl sulfoxide, which is part of Intrasan, has a local anesthetic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antimicrobial effect, has some fibrinolytic activity. The mechanism of its action is associated with the inactivation of hydroxyl radicals and the improvement of metabolic processes in the focus of inflammation, a decrease in the rate of conduction of excitatory impulses in peripheral neurons, and antagonism in relation to the vascular effects of histamine, bradykinin and prostaglandin E1. Dimethyl sulfoxide penetrates the skin and other biological membranes, increases their permeability to drugs, increases the sensitivity of microorganisms to aminoglycoside and beta-lactam antibiotics.
Potassium iodide belongs to the pharmacological group of macro- and microelements. Iodide ion, absorbed through the skin and entering the underlying tissues, participates in the metabolism and strengthening of immunity in the body of animals as a component of thyroid hormones (thyroxine, triiodothyronine). These hormones circulate in the blood and are absorbed by neutrophils. As a result of the action of the intraleukocytic system myeloperoxidase-hydrogen peroxide-iodine, iodination of bacterial proteins that enter the cytoplasm of neutrophils during phagocytosis occurs.
The maximum concentration of dimethyl sulfoxide, which is below the maximum permissible concentration of dimethyl sulfoxide in drinking water, is reached in milk after 3 hours, in blood - after 6 hours. Dimethyl sulfoxide is excreted mainly through the kidneys.
The concentration of potassium iodide in the blood and milk after using the drug does not exceed the physiological norm.
According to the degree of impact on the body, Intrasan belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in the recommended doses and concentrations it does not have a local irritant, allergenic and resorptive-toxic effect.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Intrasan is applied to cows after milking externally 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours, applying an even thin layer of 20-30 g of liniment on the skin of each affected udder, lightly rubbing.
The duration of treatment for acute mastitis is 7 days, for chronic mastitis - 14 days. If necessary, repeat the course of treatment after 2 weeks.
In the treatment of subclinical and serous mastitis, Intrasan is used as a means of monotherapy, for catarrhal and purulent-catarrhal mastitis, Intrasan applications are accompanied by simultaneous intracisternal or injections of antibiotic-containing drugs in accordance with the instructions for their use.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
When using Intrasan, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with medicinal products. People with hypersensitivity to the drug components should avoid direct contact with Intrasan. In case of allergic reactions or if the drug enters the human body, you should immediately contact a medical institution (you should have instructions for using the drug or a label with you). Empty jars from the medicinal product must not be used for domestic purposes, they must be disposed of with household waste.
No symptoms of drug overdose have been identified.
The peculiarities of the use of the drug during the first use or when it is canceled have not been identified.
Violations of the recommended interval between treatments should be avoided, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If the next treatment is missed, the use of the drug should be resumed as soon as possible in the same dose according to the same scheme.
Products of animal origin obtained during. and after using Intrasan, it is allowed to use without restriction.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Contraindication for the use of Intrasan is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug.
There are no contraindications, age restrictions, peculiarities of using the drug for pregnant and lactating animals.
SIDE EFFECTS
As a rule, there are no side effects and complications when using Intrasan in accordance with this instruction. With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug and the appearance of reactions, its use is stopped and, if necessary, antihistamines are prescribed.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The shelf life of Intrasan in sealed manufacturer's packaging, subject to storage conditions, is 3 years from the date of production.
The shelf life of the drug after the first opening of the package is 1 month. Store opened packaging in a place protected from moisture and direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature of 4 В° C to 25 В° C.
