Glycerin rectal suppositories 1.24g, No. 10 for children

  • Symptomatic treatment of constipation of various etiologies when the use of oral laxatives is not possible.

  • Prevention of constipation in patients who cannot strain during bowel movements:

    • painful thrombosed hemorrhoids anal fissures or perianal abscess anorectal stenosis;

    • after myocardial infarction;

    • after childbirth;

    • before and after rectal surgery

    • before instrumental and X-ray examination of the rectum.

Rectally.

The drug is injected into the rectum and left there for at least 5 minutes. Usually, bowel movements occur 5-10 minutes after drug administration. The remains of the suppository are excreted from the intestines with feces.

Adults and children over 12 years of age are prescribed 1 suppository containing 211 g of glycerol 1 time per day. If necessary, the dose is increased to 2 suppositories per day.

Children from 5 to 12 years of age are prescribed 1 suppository containing 124 g of glycerol 1 time per day.

Hands should be thoroughly washed before and after using suppositories.

Do not use the drug for more than 7 days.

If after treatment there is no improvement or the symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear, you should consult your doctor. Use the drug only according to the indications for the method of use and in those doses that are indicated in the instructions for use.

One suppository contains:

Excipients: sodium stearate - 0.17 g, purified water - 0.35 g.

Description

Suppositories are transparent or translucent, almost colorless or with a yellowish-brown shade of color, with a smearing surface, hygroscopic, torpedo-shaped. Turbidity of the suppository, slight softening of the surface layer and sweating of the contour packaging are allowed. An air rod is allowed on the cut.

Pharmacodynamics:

Laxative. When used as a rectal suppository, it softens and lubricates hardened fecal matter and facilitates its passage through the colon. Has an irritating effect on the intestinal mucosa, reflexively stimulating intestinal motility, initiates the process of defecation, facilitates the passage and excretion of feces.

Pharmacokinetics:

It is well absorbed through the rectal mucosa.

It is actively metabolized in the liver. Excreted by the kidneys 7-14% - unchanged.

Indications:

  • Symptomatic treatment of constipation of various etiologies when the use of oral laxatives is not possible.

During pregnancy, the use of the drug is contraindicated due to possible reflex stimulation of the uterus.

Breastfeeding period

It is not known whether glycerol penetrates into breast milk, therefore, during breastfeeding, the use of the drug is possible only if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Side effects:

Allergic reactions; local reactions (itching, burning in the anus); the appearance of spastic pain in the intestines.

With prolonged use, irritation of the rectum is possible, weakening of the physiological process of defecation.

If any of the side effects indicated in the instructions are aggravated or you notice any other side effects not indicated in the instructions, inform your doctor.

Overdose:

Symptoms: Loose stools.

Treatment : drug withdrawal, symptomatic treatment.

Interaction:

There are no data on interactions with other drugs.

Special instructions:

Systematic reception is not recommended. Treatment is stopped after the restoration of normal intestinal motility.

Do not lubricate suppositories with mineral oil or solid oils.
