DESCRIPTION
Gestrenol drops (Gestrenol guttae) is an oral solution for the regulation of sexual desire in cats. In appearance, the drug is a yellow to yellow-green solution.
COMPOSITION
Medicinal preparation Gestrenol drops as active ingredients in 1 ml contains: mepregenol propionate - 1.50 mg and ethinylestradiol 0.015 mg; as auxiliary substances: soybean oil, flavoring additive.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Gestrenol drops for cats is a hormonal contraceptive drug designed to regulate sexual desire in cats.
The progestogen - mepregenol propionate, which is part of the drug, blocks the mediobasal zones in the hypothalamus that release phytoplasmic hormones (follicle-stimulating and luteinizing hormones), which are the trigger mechanism for secretion by the pituitary gland of follicle-stimulating hormones (FSH) and lymphoma in the ovaries (FSH) and their response ovulation in cats.
Ethinylestradiol in combination with propionate mepregenol enhances the contraceptive effect, changing the biological properties of the vaginal environment in cats, the viscosity of the cervical mucus, which inhibits sperm motility, and changes in the endometrium of the uterus prevent the implantation of a fertilized egg.
Mepregenol propionate and ethinyl estradiol are rapidly absorbed in the intestine and, biotransformed in the liver, are completely excreted in the urine in the form of metabolites within 48 hours.

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Gestrenol drops for cats are administered orally by dripping into the mouth, nose, or onto a treat. The dosage depends on the body weight of the animal and the purpose of the application.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
In 2-3 months after discontinuation of the drug, the reproductive function of the body is completely restored.
Overdose symptoms have not been established.
