DESCRIPTION
Gelmintal K Spot-ON (Gelmintal K Spot-On) solution for external use in case of helminthiasis and arachnoentomoses of cats. In appearance, the drug is a clear oily, colorless or light yellow liquid.
COMPOSITION
1 ml contains moxidecrin -10 mg and praziquantel -40 mg as active substances, as well as auxiliary components: isopropyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Helmintal K belongs to the combined antiparasitic drugs.
The combination of moxidectin and ttraziquantel, which are part of the drug, provides a wide spectrum of its antiparasitic action, including against larval and mature phases of development of intestinal nematodes, including Ancylostoma tubaeforrne and Toxocara cati, cestodes (Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., EchinococcГn) phases of development (microfilariae) Dirofilaria immitsis and Dirofilaria repens, demodectic (Demodex canis) and sarcoptoid (Noloedres cati. Otodectes cynotis) ticks, fleas (Stenocephalides canis) and lice-eaters (Trichodectes canis), dogs.
Moxidectin is a semi-synthetic compound of the second generation of macrocyclic lactones of the milbemycin group. Insects, sarcoptoid mites and nematodes are active. The mechanism of its action is due to the interaction with gamma-aminobutyric acid and glutaric chloride tubules of parasites, which causes the opening of chlorine tubules in the postsynaptic space and an increase in the amount of chlorine ions, leading to an irreversible decrease in muscle activity, paralysis and death of nematodes and ectoparasites.
Praziquantel is a pyrazine-isoquinoline derivative with a pronounced effect against cestodes and nematodes. By increasing the permeability of the parasite's cell membranes for calcium ions (Ca2 +), it causes membrane depolarization, muscle contraction and destruction of the tegument, which leads to the death of the helminth and promotes its excretion from the animal's body.
The maximum concentrations of praziquantel and moxidectin when applied externally are noted in the blood of cats after 2-4 days; compounds are excreted from the body mainly in the urine unchanged and partially in the metabolized form within 28-30 days.
Helmintal K, according to the degree of impact on the body in accordance with GOST 12.1.007-76, when administered orally, refers to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3), when applied to the skin - to low-hazardous substances (hazard class 4), has weakly expressed cumulative properties; in recommended doses does not have local irritating, embryotoxic, teratogenic and mutagenic effects. The drug is well tolerated by cats of different ages; toxic to bees, as well as fish and other aquatic organisms.
PURPOSE
Helmintal K is prescribed to cats with a therapeutic and prophylactic purpose for intestinal nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariosis, ankylostomiasis), nestodoses (teniidosis, dipylidiosis, echinococcosis), entomoses caused by fleas and vascular eaters and demodecidosis, and demodecidosis.
APPLICATION
The drug is applied to cats by drip 'spot-on' application on dry, intact skin. Before use, the upper part of the pipette is broken off, the drug is applied to the animal's skin in places that are inaccessible for licking - in the neck area at the base of the skull, when processing large animals, the contents of the pipettes are applied to the skin at 3-4 points. The minimum therapeutic dose for cats is 0.1 ml / kg of animal weight (4 mg / kg praziquantel and 1 mg / kg moxidectin).
Depending on the weight of the animal, the drug Helmintal K is used in various packaging in the doses indicated in the table:
Animal weight Drug dose
from 4kg to 10kg 100ml of the drug per 10l of water
To destroy fleas and lice, animals are treated once, to prevent re-infestation - once every 4-6 weeks throughout the entire season of insect activity.
For the treatment of otodectosis (ear scabies), Helmintal K is used cutaneously once. In the course of treatment, it is recommended to clean the ear canal from exudate and scabs, and in case of complications from otitis media, prescribe antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory drugs. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 1 month.
With a therapeutic purpose for notoedrosis, the drug is used 2 times, with demo-dskosis - 2-4 times with an interval of 28 days; in order to prevent possible invasion -1 times a month.
Treatment of demodicosis is recommended to be carried out in a complex with the use of etiotropic, pathogenetic and symptomatic drugs.
For deworming cats with nematodes and cestodoses of the gastrointestinal tract, the drug is used for therapeutic purposes once, with prophylactic purposes once a month.
In order to prevent dirofilariasis in regions unfavorable for the disease, the drug is used in the spring-summer-autumn period: before the beginning of summer mosquitoes and mosquitoes (carriers of the pathogen D. Irnmitis or D. repens) once, then once a month and the last time in the season not earlier than 1 month after the end of insect summer. Helmintal K does not destroy sexually mature d: irofilariae, but it reduces the number of microfilariae circulating in the blood, and can also be used safely in infested animals.
The drug should not be applied to damp or damaged skin, and the animal should not be washed within 4 days after treatment with the drug.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to the use of Helmintal K is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug, including a history, and severe renal and liver dysfunction.
