Locally, externally. Outwardly, in the form of aqueous 0.02% (1: 5000) or alcoholic 0.066% (1: 1500) solutions - irrigate wounds and apply wet bandages.

Intracavity (aqueous solution): with sinusitis - wash the maxillary cavity; osteomyelitis after surgery - rinsing the cavity followed by applying a wet bandage; empyema of the pleura - after the removal of pus, the pleural cavity is washed and 20-100 ml of an aqueous solution is injected.

To prepare an aqueous solution, 1 part of nitrofural is dissolved in 5000 parts of a 0.9% NaCl solution or distilled water. The solution is sterilized at 100 ? C for 30 minutes.

The alcoholic solution is prepared in 70% ethanol.

For the treatment of burns and frostbites of the I-II degree, superficial wounds of the skin and mucous membranes, a gel or ointment is used, which is applied to the damaged areas for 2-3 days.

To wash the paranasal sinuses, the paste is diluted with sterile water in a 1: 1 ratio. The same dilution can be used to flush the urethra and bladder with an exposure of 20 minutes.

pharmachologic effect

Active against gram-positive and gram-negative flora, incl. Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Shigella dysenteriae, Shigella flexneri, Shigella boydii, Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli, Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella spp. Effective with the resistance of microorganisms to other antimicrobial agents (not from the group of nitrofuran derivatives). Suppresses the vital activity of the fungal flora. It has a mechanism of action that is different from other chemotherapeutic agents: microbial flavoproteins restore the 5-nitro group, the resulting highly reactive amino derivatives change the conformation of proteins, incl. ribosomal, and other macromolecules, causing cell death. Resistance develops slowly and does not reach a high degree. Increases the absorption capacity of the reticuloendothelial system, enhances phagocytosis.
