Excipients: butylhydroxytoluene (dibunol - 0.1), urea (carbamide), macrogol 20 cetostearyl ether, cetostearyl alcohol, proxanol-268 (poloxamer 407), imidourea, propylene glycol, liquid petrolatum oil, medical paraffin water) (paraffinic water)

pharmachologic effect

Antifungal drug for external use from the group of allylamines. Possesses a wide spectrum of antifungal action.

Terbinafine disrupts the early stages of ergosterol biosynthesis in fungi. This leads to a deficiency of ergosterol and to intracellular accumulation of squalene, which causes the death of the fungal cell. Terbinafine works by inhibiting the enzyme squalene epoxidase located on the cell membrane of the fungus. This enzyme does not belong to the cytochrome P450 system.

Terbinafine in small concentrations has a fungicidal effect against dermatophytes (including Trychophyton rubrum, Trychophyton mentagrophytes, Trychophyton verrucosum, Trychophyton violaceum, Trychophyton tonsurans, Microsporum canis, Epidermophyton floccosum), molds (mainly Candida albida Pityrosporum orbiculare), leading to their death. Activity against yeast-like fungi, depending on their type, can be fungicidal or fungistatic.

Urea, which is part of the spray, has keratolytic (softens and causes rejection of the stratum corneum of the epidermis affected by a fungal infection) and moisturizing effects, urea is able to increase the penetration of the dosage form into the skin and create high concentrations of terbinafine in the skin. Urea contributes to the rapid recovery of the epidermis.

Butylhydroxytoluene, which is part of the spray, is an antioxidant agent that stimulates regeneration processes. When applied topically, inhibits free radical reactions.

Terbinafine does not affect the metabolism of hormones or other drugs.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied externally, absorption is 5%, it has a slight systemic effect.

Side effect

Local reactions: rarely - redness, itching or burning sensation at the site of application of the drug. Discontinuation of treatment is rarely required.

Allergic reactions: rarely - generalized rash and / or redness, urticaria, angioedema, repeated allergic reaction.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

Since the clinical experience of using the drug in pregnant women is very limited, FungoterbinЃ spray should be used only under strict indications, when the intended benefit to the mother will outweigh the potential risk to the fetus.

Terbinafine is excreted in breast milk. However, when using FungoterbinЃ cream or spray in a nursing mother, a small amount of the active substance is absorbed through the skin, therefore, an adverse effect on the infant is unlikely.

In experimental studies, no teratogenic properties of terbinafine have been identified. To date, no malformations have been reported with the FungoterbinЃ spray.

Application for violations of liver function

Fungoterbin spray should be used with caution in liver failure.
