DESCRIPTION

Forticlina Retard (Forticlina Retard) - solution for injection for the treatment of diseases of bacterial etiology in pigs, cattle and small ruminants. In appearance, the drug is a clear light brown solution.

COMPOSITION

Forticline Retard contains oxytetracycline (dihydrate) 200 mg / ml as an active ingredient and excipients: magnesium oxide, polyvinylpyrrolidone, 2-hydroxypyrrolidone, sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate, monoethanolamine (for pH correction to 8.5-9.0), water for injection ...

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Forticlin Retard belongs to the antibacterial drugs of the tetracycline group.

Oxytetracycline dihydrate, which is part of the drug, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action against most gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms, including streptococci, staphylococci, Escherichia, Salmonella, Bordetella, as well as some strains of mycoplasma, protozoa and chlamydia.

The mechanism of bacteriostatic action of an antibiotic is to suppress protein synthesis in a bacterial cell at the ribosomal level.

After a single intramuscular injection of Forticline Retard, the therapeutic concentration of oxytetracycline is reached in the animal body after 1 hour and lasts up to 3 days.

The antibiotic is excreted from the body in unchanged and metabolized form, mainly with bile and urine, in lactating females - partly with milk.

Forticlin Retard, according to the degree of exposure to the body, belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007).

DOSAGE AND APPLICATION

Forticlin Retard is prescribed to cattle, sheep, goats and pigs for the treatment of pasteurellosis, necroballeriosis, actinomycosis, chlamydia, colibacillosis, respiratory and other infections of bacterial etiology caused by microorganisms sensitive to tetracyclines.

Forticlin Retard is administered to animals once intramuscularly in the area of the scapula or thigh at a dose of 1 ml per 1 kg of animal weight, which corresponds to 20 mg of oxytetracycline dihydrate per 1 kg of animal weight. If necessary, the drug is re-administered after 72 hours.

Due to a possible painful reaction, more than 1 O ml should not be injected into one place for cattle, more than 5 ml for sheep, goats and pigs.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

In case of an overdose of the drug, the animal may experience a decrease in appetite, an inflammatory reaction at the injection site.

The peculiarities of the action during the first use of the drug and its withdrawal were not revealed.

For pregnant and lactating females, Forticlin Retard is used for health reasons under the supervision of the attending veterinarian, since with systemic absorption, the drug can have a toxic effect on the fetus, cause disorders in the development of bone tissue.

Forticlin Retard is used once. If it is necessary to re-introduce the drug, the 72-hour interval should not be increased, as this may lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy.

Forticlin Retard should not be used simultaneously with corticosteroids and estrogens, as well as due to a pronounced decrease in the antibacterial effect of oxytetracycline, in conjunction with bactericidal drugs.

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 28 days after the last application of Forticlin Retard. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used as feed for fur animals.

For food purposes, milk of dairy animals may be used no earlier than 7 days after the last administration of the drug. Milk obtained earlier than the established period, after boiling, can be used in animal feed.
