DESCRIPTION
Foresto. - insecticidal acaricidal agent to combat ectoparasites of dogs. Foresto is produced in the form of a collar for dogs up to 8 kg - 38 cm. In appearance, the drug is a gray polymer tape with the company's logo applied.
COMPOSITION
Foresto as active ingredients contains: in a collar 38 cm long - 1.25 g of imidacloprid and 0.56 g of flumetrin, as well as auxiliary substances: dibutaladipate, propylene glycol dicaprilocaprate, epoxidized soybean oil, stearic acid, titanium dioxide, black iron oxide pigment and polyvinyl chloride.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
The Foresto collar belongs to the combined insectoacaricidal drugs.
Imidacloprid and flumethrin, which are part of the drug, possessing a synergistic effect, have a pronounced insectoacaricidal and repellent effect.
Foresto's collar is effective against the imaginal and preimaginal phases of development of fleas (Ctenocephalides felis, Ctenocephalides canis, Pulex irritans), lice (Linognathus setosus), whipers (Felicola subrostratus, Trichodectes holdesindesodes canis), ixodid ticks, lxodid ticks, lxodidum , Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Rhipicephalus turanicus, Dermacentor variabilis, Dermacentor reticulatus, Amywotta americanum) parasitizing dogs and cats, reduces the risk of transmission by ectoparasites of pathogens of vector-borne diseases.
Imidacloprid belongs to the group of chloronicotinyl insecticides, the mechanism of action of which is based on interaction with acetylcholine receptors in arthropods and impaired transmission of nerve impulses. Imidacloprid interacts with nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) on the postsynaptic membrane, which causes impaired coordination of movements, paralysis and death of ectoparasites. After application, imidacloprid, practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation, is quickly distributed over the surface of the body and, holding on to the epidermis and wool, has a long-term contact insecticidal effect.
Flumethrin is an acyano-pyrethroid (type II) and belongs to the class of pyrethroid acaricides, which act on voltage-dependent sodium channels, which play a major role in generating potential action and conducting nerve impulses along nerve fibers. The mechanism of action of pyrethroid acaricides is the irreversible activation of sodium channels of nerve cell membranes, depolarization of cell membranes and blockade of nerve conduction, which leads to impaired motor reflexes, and ultimately causes complete paralysis and death of arthropods.
According to the degree of impact on the body, Foresto's collar belongs to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), does not have a local irritant, resorptive-toxic, embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and sensitizing effect.
The Foresto collar is designed to kill fleas, lice, lice and ixodid ticks that parasitize dogs and cats, as well as to protect animals from their attack.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
After opening the package, the collar is unfolded, from the inside, the plastic jumpers are removed and put on the animal, adjusting in size so that a gap of 1.0-1.5 cm remains between the animal's neck and the collar, then the free end of the tape is passed through the loops and excess cut off.
Three reflective clips can be attached to the collar to help you observe the animal in the dark. The clips are taken out of the package, placed evenly on the non-overlapping part of the polymer tape so that they do not block the collar quick release mechanism. A click is heard when the clips are attached properly. The clips attached to the collar cannot be removed.
Continuous use of the Foresto collar protects the animal from ectoparasites for 8 months. The collar should be worn on the animal before the onset of the period of increased flea and tick activity. Collar Foresto is waterproof, its insectoacaricidal efficacy remains after washing and bathing the animal.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The use of a Foresto collar for females during pregnancy and lactation is possible after consultation with a veterinarian.
The Foresto collar is used continuously during the season of parasite activity. Violations of the regimen of the drug can lead to a decrease in its effectiveness.
The Foresto collar should not be used concurrently with other insecticidal and acaricidal preparations for treating animals.
The Foresto collar is not intended for use by productive animals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to the use of the Foresto collar is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug.
Collar Foresto should not be used by patients with infectious diseases and convalescent animals, as well as puppies under 7 weeks of age and kittens under 1O weeks of age.
SIDE EFFECTS
As a rule, there are no side effects and complications when using the Foresto collar in accordance with this instruction.
In rare cases, individual reactions (itching, redness, hair loss) are possible at the site of contact of the drug with the skin, which disappear spontaneously within 1-2 weeks without stopping the use of the collar. However, in some cases, it is recommended to temporarily remove the collar until symptoms disappear. Very rarely in dogs and rarely in cats, focal skin lesions, dermatitis, eczema are possible on the neck of an animal, in these cases the Foresto collar should be removed.
In case of allergic reactions in an animal sensitive to the components of the drug, it is necessary to remove the collar, wash the animal with soap and rinse the coat with plenty of running water, and, if necessary, prescribe antihistamines and symptomatic agents.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The shelf life of the medicinal product, subject to storage conditions, is 5 years from the date of production. It is forbidden to use the drug Foresto after the expiration date. Store the drug in the manufacturer's closed packaging, protected from direct sunlight, separately from food and feed, at a temperature from 0 В° C to 30 В° C.

The Foresto collar is 38 cm long for dogs weighing up to 8 kg in hermetically sealed polyethylene terephthalate / polyethylene foil bags, placed in metal boxes along with instructions for use. The package also contains three reflective clips that can be permanently attached to the collar so that the animal is visible in the dark.
