Infectious and inflammatory diseases of the anterior part of the eye caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin:
blepharitis;
barley;
conjunctivitis;
dacryocystitis;
keratitis;
corneal ulcer;
chlamydial eye infection.
Prevention and treatment of bacterial infections after eye injuries and surgery.
The drug in the form of eye drops is prescribed 1 drop in the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye 2-4 times / day. It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 2 weeks.
If it is necessary to use more than one drug simultaneously, a minimum interval between instillations of 5 minutes should be observed. When using the drug in the form of an eye ointment, 1.5 cm strips of ointment are placed in the lower eyelid of the affected eye 2-3 times / day; in the case of chlamydial infection - 5 times / day. It is not recommended to use the drug for more than 2 weeks.
A combination of eye drops and Floxal ointment is possible. If more than one drug is used simultaneously, the ointment should be used last.

A broad-spectrum antimicrobial drug from the group of fluoroquinolones. The bactericidal effect of ofloxacin is associated with the blockade of the enzyme DNA gyrase in bacterial cells. Highly active against most gram-negative microorganisms: Esherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Proteus spp., Morganella morganii, Shigella spp., Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., Citrobacter spp., Yersinia spp., Providencia spp., influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Mycoplasma spp., Legionella pneumophila, Acinetobacter spp., Chlamydia spp. It is active against some gram-positive microorganisms, in particular Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp. Moderately sensitive to ofloxacin Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Pseudomonas spp. Microorganisms are sensitive to ofloxacin,producing ?-lactamase. Anaerobic bacteria (except for Bacteroides urealyticus) are insensitive to the drug.
Pharmacokinetics
When applied topically, a therapeutic concentration of the drug is achieved in the tissues of the eye.
Side effect
Possibly: allergic reactions, transient conjunctival hyperemia, burning sensation, discomfort in the eyes, itching and dryness of the conjunctiva, photophobia, lacrimation. Rarely: dizziness.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
There are no data on the negative effect of ofloxacin on the fetus, but the drug is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
special instructions
It is not recommended to wear contact lenses while using the drug. Sunglasses should be worn (due to the possible development of photophobia) and prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and use mechanisms
After applying the ointment, visual acuity temporarily deteriorates, which must be taken into account when driving a car and working with mechanisms.
Overdose
There are no data on overdose of the drug Floxal.
