Structure

Piroxicam - 5 mg.

Excipients: propylene glycol, isopropanol, macrogol glyceryl cocoate (cetiol HE), hypromellose (hydroxypropyl methylcellulose), sodium hydroxide, sodium disulfite (sodium metabisulfite), potassium dihydrogen phosphate, purified water.

pharmachologic effect

NSAIDs.

It has a local analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect.

The mechanism of action is associated with the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis due to inhibition of the activity of COX-1 and COX-2.

Reduces inflammation, swelling, muscle and joint pain.

Does not dry skin.

Indications

Pain syndrome with:

- ankylosing spondylitis

- osteoarthritis

- sports injuries (bruises, dislocations, sprains, ligament injuries)

- rheumatoid arthritis

- chronic juvenile arthritis

- tendinitis

- tendovaginitis

- shoulder scapular syndrome.

Contraindications

- renal failure

- children up to age 14

- III trimester of pregnancy

- hypersensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs

- hypersensitivity to piroxicam or other components of the drug.

The drug should be prescribed with caution to patients with bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, recurrent polyposis of the nose and paranasal sinuses, chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases or chronic respiratory tract infections.

Side effects

Local reactions: skin irritation at the site of application of the drug (inflammation, redness, peeling).

Allergic reactions: urticaria, itching.

How to take, course of administration and dosage

For adults and children over 14 years of age, the gel is applied to the skin over the affected area at a dose of 1 g (approximately the size of a hazelnut) 3-4 times / day.

The duration of treatment depends on the severity of symptoms and averages 2-3 weeks for tendinitis, tendovaginitis, shoulder-scapular syndrome, 1-2 weeks for sports injuries.

Special instructions

Avoid getting the drug on damaged skin and eyes.

Release form

Gel for external use 0.5% transparent or slightly opalescent, light yellow in color, with a faint smell of isopropyl alcohol.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C

Shelf life

The shelf life is 5 years.

After opening the tube, the drug can be used within 6 months.
