pharmachologic effect

The hydrophilic fibers contained in the shell of the oval plantain seeds increase in volume due to the absorption of water and cause a reflex increase in motor skills, restoring the normal activity of the large intestine.

The gel-forming fraction promotes stool softening and acts as a lubricant" to facilitate bowel movement for constipation and painful bowel movements in patients with perianal lesions.

Indications

The drug "Fibralax" is used for acute or chronic constipation, hemorrhoids, anal fissures and in the postoperative period with interventions in the anorectal region (in order to create a softer stool consistency).

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug components, organic narrowing of the gastrointestinal tract, intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain of unknown origin, sucrase-isomaltase deficiency, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, decompensated diabetes mellitus, children under 18 years of age.

The drug should not be used in patients with phenylketonuria.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible.

Interaction

Fibralax can slow down the absorption of concurrently used drugs.

with chronic constipation - up to 4 weeks, after a week's break, the course may be repeated

Special instructions

When taking the drug, you should drink at least 1.5 liters of liquid per day.

Improper intake (not drinking enough fluid) can irritate the esophagus or intestines, especially in the elderly.

In patients with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, it may be necessary to reduce the dose of insulin.
