DESCRIPTION
Estrumate (Cloprostenol sodium) is a drug for the normalization of reproductive function and treatment of gynecological diseases in females and farm animals. Dosage form: injection solution. In appearance it is a clear, colorless solution.
COMPOSITION
The drug in 1 ml contains 0.263 mg of cloprostenol sodium as an active ingredient (equivalent to 0.250 mg of colprostenol) and excipients: chlorocresol - 1 mg, citric acid - 0.56 mg, sodium citrate - 6.1 mg, sodium chloride - 6.7 mg and water for injection up to 1 ml.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Pharmacological group - hormones and their antagonists.
Cloprostenol is a synthetic analogue of the prostaglandin PGF2a. It has a strong luteolytic effect, causes a regression of the corpus luteum (luteolysis), removes the inhibitory effect of progesterone on the hypothalamo-pituitary complex, promoting the growth of follicles in the ovaries, an increase in the level of estrogen in the blood, the appearance of heat and subsequent ovulation of mature follicles.
In animals, colprostenol is rapidly metabolized and excreted in the urine within 24 hours.
Estrumate, according to the degree of impact on the body, belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76).
Estrumate is incompatible with preparations containing strong acids or alkalis. Concomitant use with oxytocin enhances the effect on the uterus.
INDICATIONS
The drug is used to normalize reproductive function and treatment of gynecological diseases of female farm animals, including induction of the sexual cycle in cows and mares, induction of farrowing in sows; treatment of cows and mares with functional disorders of the ovaries (persistent corpus luteum, luteal cyst), ovarian dysfunction (quiet hunting, violation of the frequency of the sexual cycle), for the treatment of follicular cysts (in combination with a chronic hormone), prevention and treatment of postpartum diseases of the uterus, termination of pregnancy with fetal pathology.
APPLICATION
The drug is administered intramuscularly. Before using the drug, a gynecological examination of animals is performed. Estrumate is administered to cows in a volume of 2 ml.
In chronic endometritis, pyometra, mummification or myceration of fetuses, the removal of the contents of the uterine cavity containing pus and / or fetal tissue usually occurs a few days after treatment with Estrumate. In case of incomplete removal of the contents of the uterus, reprocessing can be carried out after 11-13 days. At the same time, appropriate antimicrobial therapy should be used. Animals are inseminated only after complete functional restoration of the uterus.
With persistent corpus luteum, luteal cyst (during the period of subestrus-pseudoanestrus), animals are treated with Estrumate, followed by insemination when signs of sexual heat appear. To obtain the best effect in the treatment of luteal cysts, a gonadotropin-releasing hormone is applied to the animals 9 days before the administration of Estrumate.
For the treatment of follicular cysts (with the appearance of signs of constant hunting, nymphomania), chorionic hormone (hCG) is preliminarily injected intramuscularly, and after 11 days, after it is noted on the 1st day after the administration of the drug.
To terminate pregnancy in case of fetal pathology, animals are treated with Estrumate from 1 week to the 5th month of pregnancy; the abortion occurs 2-7 days after the injection. In some cases, for example, if there are twins in the uterus, re-treatment with the drug may be necessary.
Cows can be induced to give birth no earlier than 1 week before the expected calving date (for example, 270 days of gestation).
For the induction of sexual heat, the drug is administered to animals and inseminated upon arrival in the heat, which is observed 24-120 hours after injection. For animals that did not go into heat, the drug is re-administered 11-13 days after the first treatment, followed by insemination after 72 and 96 hours or when signs of estrus appear.
To synchronize sexual heat, Estrumate is administered twice with an interval of 11-13 days (13 days - only for adult cows). The treated animals are inseminated when signs of sexual heat appear 72 and 96 hours after re-injection. It is allowed to carry out a single insemination of animals in the period from 72 to 84 hours after the repeated administration of Estrumate, but the level of fertilization may be lower than with double insemination.
Estrumate is administered intramuscularly to mares in a volume of 1 ml, and to donkeys and female ponies in a volume of 0.5-1 ml for the induction of sexual heat or treatment of functional disorders of the ovaries (persistent corpus luteum). Sexual heat in animals usually occurs 3-4 days after drug administration.
To pigs, Estrumate is administered intramuscularly in a volume of 0.7 ml. To synchronize farrowing at pig farms, Estrumate is used two days before farrowing (from 111 days of gestation). In 95% of sows, farrowing occurs within 36 hours after the injection.
In the treatment of postpartum endometritis, Estrumate is prescribed as part of complex therapy, together with antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs.
To terminate a pathological pregnancy associated with the death or mummification of fetuses, Estrumate is administered after 114 days of gestation.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Avoid skipping the administration of the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If you miss one dose, you must enter it as soon as possible.
The milk of cows and mares after the use of Estrumate can be used for food purposes without restrictions, meat from animals - 24 hours after the last use of the drug. In case of forced slaughter of an animal before the established time, the meat can be used for feeding fur animals.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Estrumate must not be used by animals during pregnancy, except in cases of termination of an unwanted pregnancy or induction of labor.
OVERDOSE
In case of an overdose in animals, a slight increase in rectal temperature, excessive salivation is possible. In case of a significant overdose in cows, a decrease in milk production, anxiety, an increase in heart rate and respiration, which pass within an hour after injection, may occur.
SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects and complications when using Estrumate in accordance with this instruction in farm animals are not observed.
PRECAUTIONS
When working with Estrumate, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with medicinal products for animals. Avoid contact with skin and mucous membranes due to the ability of the drug to penetrate the skin.
Women of childbearing age, pregnant women, people with asthma should avoid direct contact with the drug or take special care when working with the drug, work in protective disposable gloves.
All work with Estrumate must be carried out using overalls and personal protective equipment (dressing gown, headdress, rubber gloves). After finishing work, wash your hands with warm water and soap.
Empty vials from a medicinal product must not be used for household purposes, they must be disposed of with household waste.
STORAGE
Store in closed manufacturer's packaging, separately from food and feed, in a dry, dark place at temperatures from + 2 В° РЎ to + 25 В° РЎ. Shelf life, subject to storage conditions: 2 years from the date of production, after the first opening of the bottle - 28 days.
