Description:
Elecampane rhizomes and roots contain essential oil (including sesquiterpene lactones), inulin , mucus and other biologically active substances.
Description:
Pieces of roots and rhizomes of various shapes. The color is grayish brown, yellowish white, yellowish gray. The smell is fragrant. The taste of the aqueous extract is spicy, bitter.
Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Expectorant of plant origin.
Pharmachologic effect:
A decoction of elecampane of rhizomes and roots has an expectorant effect.
Indications for use:
Used in adults and children over 12 years of age as an expectorant for diseases of the upper respiratory tract.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug, kidney disease, pregnancy, lactation, children under 12 years of age.
Method of administration and dosage:
About 16 g (2 tablespoons) of rhizomes and roots are placed in an enamel bowl, pour 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water, cover with a lid and heat in a boiling water bath with frequent stirring for 30 minutes, cool for 10 minutes at room temperature temperature, filter, wring out the remaining raw materials. The volume of the resulting broth is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.
It is taken orally in a warm form, 1/2 cup 2-3 times a day. The course of treatment is 2 weeks.
It is recommended to shake the broth before use.
Side effect:
