PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Dirofen-paste and 60 belongs to the pharmacotherapeutic group: anthelmintic agents in combinations.
The combination of pyrantel and praziquantel pamoate, which is part of the drug, has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action on all phases of development of round and tape helminths parasitizing in dogs, cats, ferrets (Toxocara canis, Toxocara mystax, Toxascaris leonina, Taenoma sialocephalus, Uncininaria Echinococcus granulosus, Alveococcus multilocularis, Mesocestoides lineatus, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum, Multiceps multiceps) and in ornamental rodents (Syphacia obvelata, Syphacia muris, Aspicul tetraptera, Rodenta nuropis stramolepine)
Pyrantela pamoat is a compound of the pyrimidine group, active against sexually mature and immature nematodes, its mechanism of action is based on blocking the transmission of nerve impulses in neuromuscular synapses by depolarizing the membranes of muscle cells, which causes paralysis of the muscular system of nematodes; pyrantel is poorly absorbed, which ensures its prolonged action on helminths in the intestine; excreted from the body mostly unchanged (93%) with feces.
Praziquantel is a compound of the group of pyrazinisoquinolines, active against sexually mature and immature cestodes; the mechanism of its action is based on inducing the breakdown of tegument and inhibition of fumarate reductase, persistent depolarization of muscle cells of the helminth, disruption of energy metabolism, which causes paralysis and death of cestodes and promotes their excretion from the gastrointestinal tract. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a maximum concentration in blood plasma after 1-3 hours, and is distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal; binds to serum proteins of the blood (70-80%), partially metabolized in the liver, re-excreted into the intestine, excreted from the body mainly in the urine (up to 80%).
Dirofen-paste 60 in terms of the degree of impact on the body belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not have embryotoxic, teratogenic and sensitizing effects. Well tolerated by dogs and cats of different breeds and ages, ferrets and rodents.
INDICATIONS
Dirofen paste 60 - for adult dogs and cats, with a prophylactic and therapeutic purpose for nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariosis, ankylostomiasis), cestodosis (teniidosis, dipylidiosis, echinococcosis, diphyllobothriasis, mesocestoidal nematosis)
DOSES AND METHOD OF APPLICATION
Dirofen-paste is administered to the animals once individually in the morning feeding with a small amount of food or injected or injected into the oral cavity, squeezing the paste out of the syringe-dispenser for adult dogs and cats - 1 ml of Dirofen-paste 60 per 3 kg of animal weight. A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives are not required when using the drug.
