Decta Forte ear drops for otodectosis 10ml
DESCRIPTION
Decta Forte is an acaricidal drug for treating cats and dogs with otodectosis.
In appearance, the drug is a clear oily liquid. Dosage form: solution for external use.
COMPOSITION
As active ingredients in 1 ml, the drug contains: fipronil - 5 mg, chloramphenicol - 10 mg, lidocaine hydrochloride - 50 mg and excipients: dimethyl sulfoxide - 100 mg, benzyl alcohol 100 mg, Cocreme D perfume - 5 mg, polyethylene glycol-400 to 1 ml.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Dekta Forte belongs to the combined acaricidal drugs.
Fipronil, which is a part of the drug (phenylpyrozole group), has a wide spectrum of acaricidal action against sarcoptoid ticks parasitizing dogs and cats, incl. causative agents of otodectosis - Otodectes cynotis and notoedzora - Notoedres cati. The mechanism of action of fipronil is to disrupt the passage of chlorine ions in the GABA-dependent receptors of ectoparasites, which leads to impaired transmission of nerve impulses, paralysis and death of arthropods. After applying the drug to the skin of an animal, fipronil, practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation, accumulates in the epidermis, hair follicles and sebaceous glands, providing a long-term contact acaricidal effect.
Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect, helps relieve itching. The mechanism of the local anesthetic effect is to stabilize the neuronal membrane, reduce its permeability to sodium ions, which prevents the emergence of an action potential and impulses. Antagonism with calcium ions is possible. It penetrates well into tissues and has a local anesthetic effect that develops within 1-5 minutes. Some part of lidocaine when applied topically is absorbed into the systemic circulation. The peak plasma concentration is reached within 60 minutes, therapeutically significant concentrations are maintained for 7-8 hours. Lidocaine metabolism occurs in the liver. The half-life of lidocaine is about 1.6 hours. The active component is excreted mainly by the kidneys.
Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic of the amphenicol group. The mechanism of antimicrobial action is associated with a violation of the synthesis of proteins of microorganisms. Chloramphenicol has a bacteriostatic effect. It is active against gram-positive (Staphilococcus spp., Streptococcus spp.) And gram-negative cocci (Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis), many bacteria (Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp. Spp., Klebsiella spp., Klebsiella spp., Klebsiella spp. stuartii, Yersinia spp.), rickettsiae, actinomycetes, spirochetes, and some large viruses. When applied topically, systemic absorption is possible.
In terms of the degree of impact on the body, it belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not have a local irritating, resorptive-toxic and sensitizing effect.
PURPOSE
Decta Forte is prescribed to dogs and cats with otodectosis, sarcoptic mange and notoedrosis, including those complicated by bacterial microflora.
APPLICATION
For the treatment of animals with otodectosis (ear scabies), the auricles and the external auditory canal are cleaned of superficial scabs and crusts, then a drug is instilled into each ear, 3-5 drops. Processing is carried out two to three times with an interval of 3-5 days.
For the purpose of a more complete treatment of the entire surface of the ear and the auditory canal, the auricle is folded in half lengthwise and its base is massaged.
Be sure to treat both ears, even in cases of ticks affecting only one ear. If necessary, repeat the course of treatment.
With notoedrosis of cats and sarcoptic mange of dogs, the drug is applied in a thin layer to the affected areas previously cleaned of superficial scabs and crusts using a cotton-gauze swab at the rate of 0.2-0.3 ml per 1 kg of animal weight, rubbing lightly from the periphery to the center with the capture of borderline healthy skin up to 1 cm.
To prevent licking of the drug, the animals are muzzled or the jaws are closed with a loop of braid, which are removed 15-20 minutes after treatment.
The treatment is carried out 2-3 times with an interval of 5-7 days until the clinical recovery of the animal, which is confirmed by two negative results of the study of skin scrapings. If live ticks are found, the course of treatment is repeated.
Animals with extensive areas of skin lesions are treated in two doses with an interval of 1 day, applying the drug to the affected areas, first on one and then on the other half of the body surface.
In case of skipping the next treatment, it is necessary to carry it out as soon as possible in the same dose, according to the same scheme.
