Infectious and inflammatory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin, including:
diseases of the lower respiratory tract, ear, throat, nose, skin, soft tissues, bones, joints, infectious and inflammatory diseases of the abdominal cavity (excluding bacterial enteritis) and small pelvis, kidney and urinary tract infections, prostatitis, gonorrhea
Infectious eye diseases
1-2 single dose in the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye 2-4 times / day. It is not recommended to use for more than 2 weeks.
Ear infections
10 single doses in the affected ear 2 times a day for 10 days.
ofloxacin
Pregnancy,
lactation,
children and adolescents up to 18 years old,
hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolone derivatives.
pharmachologic effect
Antimicrobial agent of the broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone group. The bactericidal effect of ofloxacin is associated with the blockade of the enzyme DNA gyrase in bacterial cells. Highly active against most gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Proteus spp., Morganella morganii, Klebsiella spp. (including Klebsiella pneumoniae), Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., Citrobacter spp., Yersinia spp., Providencia spp., Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Mycoplasma spp., Legionella pneumetoophila as well as Chlamydia spp. It is active against some gram-positive microorganisms (including Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Especially beta-hemolytic streptococci). Moderately susceptible to ofloxacin are Enterococcus faecalis, Streptococcus pneumoniae,Pseudomonas spp. Anaerobic bacteria (except for Bacteroides ureolyticus) are not sensitive to ofloxacin. It is resistant to the action of ?-lactamases.
Side effects
Local reactions: transient burning sensation or discomfort in the eye, conjunctival hyperemia, blurred vision, eye pain, itching sensation, pain in the ear, ringing sensation in the ears, dry mouth. Systemic reactions: eczema, paresthesia, dizziness. Drug Interactions During use, it should be borne in mind that magnesium, aluminum, iron and zinc reduce the absorption of ofloxacin.
special instructions
It is not recommended to wear contact lenses during use. Sunglasses should be worn (due to the possible development of photophobia) and prolonged exposure to sunlight should be avoided.
Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and use mechanisms
After application (after introduction into the conjunctival sac), visual acuity temporarily deteriorates, which must be taken into account when driving a car and working with mechanisms.
Pregnancy and lactation
Use during pregnancy is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus. Not recommended for use during lactation (breastfeeding).
Childhood use
The use is contraindicated in children under the age of 1 year.
