PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Pharmacological group - water-soluble B vitamins.
A characteristic chemical feature of the cyanocobalamin molecule is the presence of a cobalt atom and a cyano group in it, which form a coordination complex. In the body, cyanocobalamin is converted into a coenzyme form - adenosylcobalamin, which is the active form of vitamin B12. Cyanocobalamin is a growth factor necessary for normal hematopoiesis and erythrocyte maturation; participates in the synthesis of labile methyl groups and in the formation of choline, methionine, creatine, nucleic acids; promotes the accumulation of compounds containing sulfhydryl groups in erythrocytes. Has a beneficial effect on the function of the liver and nervous system. Cyanocobalamin activates the blood coagulation system: in high doses it causes an increase in thromboplastic activity and prothrombin activity.
Vitamin B12 improves the acid-base balance of the body, increases the content of total protein in the blood serum, increases the amount of gamma globulins, and stimulates the production of antibodies. The drug promotes the growth and development of animals.
When injected intramuscularly, cyanocobalamin quickly enters the bloodstream. Most of the vitamin is excreted in the urine within 24 hours.
When administered intravenously, the half-life of cyanocobalamin is 20 to 50 minutes.
In accordance with the classification of GOST 12.1.007-76, the drug belongs to substances of the 4th hazard class - low hazard substances.
