• Prevention and treatment of allergic conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis.

The drug is most effective when used prophylactically. A noticeable clinical effect occurs after a few days or weeks of use.

Treatment begins with instillation of the drug 1 drop 2 times / day in both eyes, if necessary, the dosage regimen can be changed to instillation of 1 drop 4 times / day in both eyes.

For seasonal allergic conjunctivitis, treatment should be started immediately after the first symptoms appear or applied prophylactically before the pollen season begins.

Treatment is continued throughout the flowering season, or longer if symptoms persist.

Eye drops in the form of a transparent or almost transparent, colorless or slightly colored liquid.

Antiallergic drug, prevents degranulation of mast cells and the release from them of mediators of allergic reactions - histamine and leukotrienes (especially SRS-A). The mechanism of action is probably based on the stabilization of mast cell membranes and blocking of calcium channels, which causes inhibition of the release of mediators. Cromoglycic acid blocks both early and late allergic reactions. The drug has no antihistamine and vasoconstrictor effect.

Absorption and distribution

Absorption through the mucous membrane of the eye is negligible. Systemic bioavailability is less than 0.03%. Plasma protein binding - 65%.

Metabolism and excretion

It is not metabolized, excreted by the kidneys and through the intestines in unchanged form (approximately in equal amounts within 24 hours after application). T1 / 2 - 5-10 min.

Side effect

From the side of the organ of vision: very rarely - a rapidly passing violation of the clarity of visual perception, a short-term burning sensation, a foreign body, dry eye, conjunctival edema, lacrimation, meibomitis. Other: very rarely - allergic reactions (itching, mild soreness of the conjunctiva, conjunctival injection), changes in taste.

Application during pregnancy and lactation

The safety of using the drug during pregnancy and during breastfeeding has not been established, therefore, during this period, the drug should be used with caution and only if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child. The drug is excreted in breast milk; during the period of drug treatment, the issue of stopping breastfeeding should be resolved.

Application in children

The drug should be prescribed with caution in childhood. The use of the drug in patients under 4 years of age is contraindicated.

The preservative contained in the drug can irritate the eyes when wearing contact lenses, so any contact lenses should be removed before instilling the drug and installed no earlier than 15 minutes after instillation.

Influence on the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms

Patients who, after using the drug, have a short-term impairment of the clarity of visual perception, should not drive vehicles and mechanisms immediately after using the eye drops.

Drug interactions

No adverse interactions of cromoglycic acid with other drugs have been observed.
