Combimast syringe 5g
DESCRIPTION
Kombimast (ComЬimastum) is a veterinary drug for the treatment of cows with mastitis during the lactation period. The drug is a white to cream suspension. Delamination during storage is allowed.
COMPOSITION
5.0 g of the drug contains penicisin procaine G (benzylpenicillin novo-cain salt) - 100,000 IU, streptomycin sulfate - 100 mg, neomycin sulfate - 100 mg, prednisolone - 1O mg, auxiliary substances - sorbitan monostearate and liquid para-fin.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Combimast belongs to a group of drugs for the treatment of cows suffering from mastitis during lactation. The drug is active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Klebsiella pneumoniae, Esche-richia coli and some others).
Combimast contains a combination of procaine penicillin G, which is a long-acting form of penicillin, and streptomycin, which provides a synergistic effect.
The bactericidal effect of procaine penicillin G consists in disrupting the structure of bacterial membranes by inhibiting the formation of glycoproteins in bacterial membranes by irreversible binding with the enzyme transaminase at the stage of microorganism reproduction.
The absorption of streptomycin is limited with intramammary administration. The drug has a bactericidal effect depending on the concentration at the site of application. Decomposition products resulting from the inflammatory process do not reduce the effectiveness of the drug.
Neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. Since neomycin is not absorbed into the tissue, a long-term local antibacterial effect against pathogens is provided at the site of application. Neomycin has a bactericidal effect by inhibiting protein synthesis in bacteria.
The synthetic glucocorticoid prednisolone has an anti-inflammatory effect.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
The drug is injected into the affected part of the udder through the teat canal at a dose of 5 g (1 syringe-injector) three times with an interval of 24 hours. Treatment is continued until complete recovery, but no more than 5 days.
Before using combimast, the contents of the diseased quarter of the udder are milked out, and the nipple is treated with antiseptics permitted for this purpose. Then remove the cap from the tip of the syringe-injector and insert it into the nipple canal, squeezing out the contents. After that, the tip is removed, the top of the nipple is squeezed and the udder lobe is massaged from bottom to top. After using the drug, the nipple is re-treated with an antiseptic.
Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment is carried out 7-1 O days after the last injection of the drug by a rapid mastitis test, using a diagnostic drug and a milk control plate.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 7 days after the last use of the drug. Meat of animals forced to be killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used for feeding carnivores.
During treatment, milk from both diseased and healthy udder quarters is utilized or used in animal feed after boiling. The use of milk for food purposes is allowed no earlier than 4.5 days after the last use of the drug.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Contraindications: the use of the drug is not allowed with individual hypersensitivity to neomycin sulfate, penicillin procaine, streptomycin.
SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects when using the drug are allergic reactions.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The drug is injected into 5.0 g in plastic syringes closed with caps. The drug is stored according to list B in a dry, dark place at a temperature from plus 15 В° C to plus 25 В° C.
The shelf life of the drug is 24 months, subject to the storage and transportation conditions.
