Conjunctivitis (catarrhal, purulent, trachoma);
blepharitis;
blepharoconjunctivitis;
bacterial keratitis;
septic ulcer of the cornea;

Eye ointment should be placed in the lower conjunctival sac 3-4 times / day. If the use of the ointment is combined with the use of eye drops, then the ointment can be applied only 1 time / day (before bedtime).

pharmachologic effect
Combined antibacterial drug for topical use in ophthalmology. Chloramphenicol is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits the synthesis of proteins of sensitive microorganisms; active against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Chlamydia spp .; not active against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, fungi. Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the RNA level and has a bacteriostatic effect. Active against gram-negative bacteria, Chlamydia spp., Mycoplasma spp., Rickettsia spp., Entamoeba histolytica. Resistance of microorganisms develops slowly. Colistimethate sodium is an antibiotic isolated from Bacillus polymixa, var. colistinus. Has a bactericidal effect on most gram-negative bacteria (incl.Pseudomonas spp., Haemophilus spp.); active against fungi. There is no cross-resistance with broad-spectrum antibiotics, with which sodium colistimethate synergizes.
Side effect
Local reactions: short-term conjunctival hyperemia, burning sensation. Allergic reactions: angioedema, urticaria, bullous and maculopapular dermatitis.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
The drug is contraindicated for use during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
Application for violations of liver function
Contraindicated in liver dysfunction.
Application for impaired renal function
Contraindicated in case of impaired renal function
Application in children
The drug is contraindicated in children under 8 years of age.
special instructions
In the absence of significant clinical improvement within a relatively short period of time or in the event of allergic reactions, Colbiocin should be discontinued and appropriate antiallergic therapy should be carried out. Because rare cases of bone marrow hypoplasia have been reported due to long-term local use of chloramphenicol, colbiocin should be used for short periods of time and under the supervision of an ophthalmologist.
Overdose
Cases of overdose of the drug Colbiocin were not reported.
