Cestal Plus for dogs, chewable tablets with liver flavor 8 tablets
DESCRIPTION
Cestal Plus is a liver-flavored anthelmintic drug produced in the form of round flat tablets from light yellow to gray-brown in color with a dividing groove in the middle.
COMPOSITION
The active ingredients are 50 mg of praziquantel, 144 mg of pyrantel embonate and 200 mg of fenbendazole, as well as an excipient.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Cestal Plus has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action. Praziquantel, which is part of the drug, is active against the cestodes Taenia spp., Dipylidium caninum, Echinococcus spp. The mechanism of action of praziquantel is to increase the permeability of the cell membranes of the helminth for calcium ions, which causes a generalized contraction of the parasite's muscles, which turns into permanent paralysis. Praziquantel induces vacuolization and subsequent destruction of the segments of the parasite, which leads to the loss of cellular components and rapid death of the helminth. Praziquantel is rapidly and almost completely absorbed in the intestine, well distributed in most organs, and excreted in the urine in a metabolized form. Pirantela embonate is active against nematodes, including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria stenocephala, causes paralysis and contracture of skeletal muscles in parasites. Pyrantela embonate is partially absorbed in the intestine, rapidly metabolized in the animal's body, and excreted mainly in feces. The mechanism of action of fenbendazole, which has a detrimental effect on nematodes, is to suppress the fumarate reductase enzyme system of the parasite, leading to disruption of energy metabolism and the death of the helminth. Cestal Plus belongs to the group of compounds with low toxicity for warm-blooded animals; in recommended doses it does not have embryotoxic and teratogenic effects. consists in suppressing the fumarate reductase enzyme system of the parasite, leading to a violation of energy metabolism and the death of the helminth. INDICATIONS
Prescribed to dogs for prophylactic and therapeutic purposes with nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, uncinariosis, ankylostomiasis, trichocephalosis) and cestodosis (dipylidiosis, diphyllobothriasis, echinococcosis, teniasis).
APPLICATION AND DOSAGE
Cestal Plus is given to the dogs inside individually, once in the morning with a small amount of food (with a piece of meat, sausage, minced meat, porridge) based on:
Animal weight Dosage

If the animal refuses to feed with an anthelmintic, the drug is injected forcibly onto the root of the tongue or in the form of an aqueous suspension.
To prepare the suspension, the tablet is crushed, suspended in 10 ml of water, vigorously shaken and immediately injected into the animal using a syringe with a catheter at the rate of 1 ml of suspension per 1 kg of animal weight.
A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives before deworming are not required. In case of severe invasion, the drug is reused after 14 days. For preventive purposes, deworming of dogs is carried out quarterly, as well as before vaccination and mating.
