DESCRIPTION
Ceftil (Ceftilum) - a drug for the treatment of cattle and pigs with bacterial infections of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. In appearance it is a white to cream suspension. Delamination during storage is allowed.
COMPOSITION
1 ml of the drug contains 50 mg of ceftiofur.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Ceftiofur, which is part of the drug, is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a broad spectrum of activity, which has a bactericidal effect on gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria Escherichia coli, Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Salmonella spp., Streptocoaploccus spp .. Proteus spp., Fusobacterium necrophorum and Porphiromas assacharolytica (Bacteroides melaninogenicus).
The drug acts bactericidal, inhibits the enzyme transpeptidase, disrupts the synthesis of peptidoglycan, a mucopeptide of the cell membrane, which leads to disruption of the growth of the cell wall of the microorganism and lysis of bacteria.
After parenteral administration of the drug in a therapeutic dose, the maximum concentration of the active substance is created in the blood after 50-60 minutes and is maintained at the therapeutic level for up to 24 hours, and in the endometrium after 3-4 hours. A high concentration of the drug is also achieved in caruncles and lochia, bones, joints, respiratory tract. Intramuscular bioavailability is close to 100%. Antibiotic excretion occurs mainly in urine and feces.
DOSAGE AND APPLICATION
Ceftil is used to treat cattle and pigs with bacterial infections of the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract, sepsis, postpartum infections, mastitis, arthritis; cattle with necrobacteriosis and other diseases, pathogens of which are sensitive to ceftiofur.
Ceftil is injected intramuscularly or subcutaneously once a day for 3-5 days in the following doses: cattle at a dose of 1.0 ml per 50 kg of animal weight, but not more than 15 ml in one place; young cattle in a dose of 0.3 ml per 10 kg of animal weight, but not more than 5 ml in one place; for pigs, the drug is used in a dose of 1.0 ml per 16 kg of animal weight, but not more than 10 ml in one place.
Mix the contents of the bottle thoroughly before each use.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Avoid skipping the administration of the next dose of the drug, as this can lead to a decrease in therapeutic efficacy. If one dose is missed, the use of the drug is resumed in the same dosage and according to the same scheme.
Slaughter for meat of cattle is carried out no earlier than 8 days, pigs - 6 days after the last injection of the drug. The meat of animals that were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified period can be used for feeding carnivores. Milk from cows can be used for food purposes without restriction.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The drug should not be mixed in the same syringe with other drugs. Combined use with tetracyclines, macrolides and amphenicols reduces the antimicrobial activity of the drug.
SIDE EFFECTS
If the indicated dosages are observed, no side effects have been established. In rare cases, allergic reactions are possible. In such cases, treatment is canceled and antihistamines are prescribed.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
The drug is stored in a dry, dark place at a temperature of +5 В° C to + 25 В° C. The shelf life of the drug is 2 years from the date of manufacture, subject to storage rules
