Acute constipation, poisoning, food toxicoinfections, to cleanse the intestines before diagnostic procedures.
In obstetric practice, it is used to stimulate the activity of the uterus (with weakness in labor).
As a laxative for adults - 15-30 g (1-2 tablespoons), children - 5-15 g (tea, dessert or tablespoon) at the reception.
To stimulate labor activity, 30-40 g in combination with quinine, pituitrin and other means.

Hypersensitivity to castor bean seed oil;
poisoning with male fern extract or fat-soluble toxic substances (for example, benzene or phosphorus);

pharmachologic effect
Castor bean seed oil. It causes a sharp laxative effect. In the alkaline environment of the duodenum, in the presence of bile, under the influence of lipase, ricinolic acid is formed from the oil, which irritates receptors throughout the intestine, disrupts the transport of electrolytes and retains water. The remaining oil makes it easier for the stool to move through the colon. The laxative effect occurs in 2-6 hours.
Side effect
Perhaps: abdominal pain, nausea, rush of blood to the pelvic organs. With repeated use: indigestion, enterocolitis, addiction.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
Application for impaired renal function
Contraindicated in acute and chronic glomerulonephritis, nephrosonephritis.
Application in children
Contraindicated in children under 12 years of age. Not used in pediatrics due to the high sensitivity of the intestines of children to irritants and the danger of dehydration.
