pharmachologic effect

Camphor alcohol has antimicrobial, local irritant, local analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. By stimulating the sensitive nerve endings of the skin, it expands blood vessels and improves the trophism of organs and tissues.

Pharmacokinetics

When applied to the surface of the skin, it is partially absorbed, undergoes oxidation. Oxidation products combine with glucuronic acid and are excreted by the kidneys. Part of camphor is excreted unchanged by the lungs and with bile.

Side effects

allergic skin reactions (urticaria); skin irritation; headache, dizziness.

Overdose

Symptoms: agitation, tachycardia, convulsions.

Treatment: symptomatic therapy.
