Pharmacological action
A drug that replenishes calcium deficiency in the body. Calcium chloride has an anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, hemostatic effect. Calcium ions are involved in the transmission of nerve impulses, reduction of skeletal and smooth muscles, in the functional activity of the myocardium, blood coagulation, formation and preservation of bone tissue integrity.
Indications
As an additional treatment for allergic diseases (including serum sickness, urticaria, angioedema, hay fever) and allergic reactions to medications. As an additional hemostatic agent for pulmonary, gastrointestinal, nasal, uterine bleeding. As an antidote for poisoning with magnesium salts, oxalic acid and its soluble salts, as well as soluble salts of fluoric acid.
Contraindications
Tendency to thrombosis, severe atherosclerosis, hypercalcemia.
Special instructions
Do not enter s / c and / m. If calcium chloride gets under the skin or muscle tissue, severe irritation develops with the formation of foci of necrosis.
Dosage and administration of
When given intravenously, a single dose is 0.5-1 mg. When taken orally, a single dose is 0.25-1.5 g. The frequency and duration of use depend on the indications and the clinical situation.
Side effects
Possible: bradycardia with rapid administration - ventricular fibrillation with iv administration - a sensation of heat in the oral cavity, and then throughout the body.
The active substance
Triamcinolone, pyridoxine, riboflavin, nicotinamide, silver chloride 29 monovalent mercury due to the formation of insoluble chlorides of heavy metals and with sodium barbital, because in this case, poorly soluble calcium salt of barbital is formed.
Calcium chloride with simultaneous use reduces the effect of calcium channel blockers. Under the influence of colestyramine, calcium absorption from the gastrointestinal tract decreases. With simultaneous use with quinidine, it is possible to slow intraventricular conduction and increase the toxicity of quinidine. During treatment with cardiac glycosides, parenteral administration of calcium chloride is not recommended, due to the increased cardiotoxic effect.
