Calcium chloride 10%
DESCRIPTION
A medicinal product in the form of an injection solution used as an anti-inflammatory, hemostatic and desensitizing agent for animals.
COMPOSITION
Calcium chloride 10% solution for injection as an active ingredient in 100 ml contains 10 g of calcium chloride, and as an auxiliary substance water for injection up to 100 ml.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Calcium chloride in the body of animals activates the reticuloendothelial system and the phagocytic function of leukocytes, increases the tone of the sympathetic nervous system, increases the release of adrenaline, reduces the permeability of blood vessels, exhibits anti-inflammatory action and prevents the development of edema.
Calcium ions are necessary for the processes of transmission of nerve impulses, contraction of skeletal muscles and muscles of the heart, the formation of bone tissue, blood coagulation.
After administration, the drug is rapidly distributed in the organs and tissues of the animal.
INDICATIONS
The solution for injection is prescribed to animals in order to increase the calcium content in the blood, as an anti-inflammatory, hemostatic and desensitizing agent, to normalize the activity of the sympathetic nervous system in the following pathological conditions:
pneumonia, pleurisy, peritonitis, toxic liver damage, parenchymal hepatitis, nephritis, with radiation sickness, pulmonary edema, larynx, edematous disease of piglets
bleeding (uterine, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, postoperative) to reduce vascular permeability in hemorrhagic, inflammatory and exudative processes
allergic diseases, allergic complications associated with the use of drugs
in obstetric and gynecological practice for endometritis, metritis, to stimulate labor, accelerate the separation of the delayed placenta in animals, prevent abortion, with maternity paresis, postpartum hematuria in cows
with hypotension and atony of the proventriculus, hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, tetany of young animals
with autonomic neuroses, eclampsia in dogs, acetonemia in cows, paralytic myoglobinuria in horses
in case of poisoning with magnesium salts, oxalic acid and its salts, sodium chloride
APPLICATION
Calcium chloride 10% solution for injection is administered intravenously only. Intramuscular and subcutaneous administration of the drug is unacceptable, due to the pronounced irritating effect of the drug, leading to tissue necrosis.
The drug is administered to animals intravenously, slowly in the following single doses (depending on the weight of the animal):
Animal species Dose, ml / animal
Cattle 150 - 400
Horses 100 -300
Small cattle 10 - 30
Pigs 10 - 20
Dogs 5-15
Doses and periods of use depend on the weight of the animal and the course of the disease.
SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
The use of Calcium chloride does not preclude the use of other medicines.
Calcium chloride should not be applied beyond the expiration date.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
A contraindication to the use of a solution for injection is an increased calcium content in the blood and a tendency to thrombosis.
PRECAUTIONS
It is necessary to follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided when working with medicines.
FIRST AID MEASURES
In case of accidental ingestion of the drug under the skin to prevent tissue necrosis, it is necessary to inject a large amount of isotonic sodium chloride 0.9% solution around the injection site.
STORAGE
The drug should be stored in a dry, dark place out of the reach of children at a temperature of 0 В° C to 25 В° C. The shelf life is 24 months.
PACKING
The solution for injection is produced packaged in 100 ml in glass vials of appropriate capacity, sealed with rubber stoppers, reinforced with aluminum caps.
