Calamus rhizomes contain the bitter substance ascorin, essential oil, tannins, resins, ascorbic acid and other biologically active substances.
Powder. Pieces of rhizomes of various shapes, yellowish, yellowish-white, whitish-pink, grayish-green, yellowish-brown, red-brown, with partially preserved yellowish-brown or brownish cork. The smell is strong, fragrant, characteristic. The taste of the aqueous extract is spicy and bitter.
Pharmacotherapeutic group:
Appetite stimulant of plant origin (bitterness).
Pharmachologic effect:
Irritating the taste buds of the mucous membranes of the mouth and tongue, the infusion of calamus rhizomes reflexively causes an increase in the secretion of gastric juice, increases appetite and improves digestion.
Indications for use: It is
used as a means of increasing appetite and improving digestion in complex therapy for hypofunction of the gastrointestinal tract.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Method of administration and dosage
About 8 g (1 tablespoon) is placed in an enamel bowl, 200 ml (1 glass) of hot boiled water is poured, covered with a lid and heated in a water bath for 15 minutes, cooled for 45 minutes at room temperature, filtered, the remaining raw materials are wrung out ... The volume of the resulting infusion is brought to 200 ml with boiled water.
It is taken orally warm, 1/3 cup 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals.
It is recommended to shake the infusion before use.
