Pharmacological action
Bromhexine 4 Berlin-Chemie has a mucolytic (secretolytic) and expectorant effect.
The mucolytic effect is associated with the depolymerization and liquefaction of mucoprotein and mucopolysaccharide fibers.
Indications
Acute and chronic bronchopulmonary diseases accompanied by the formation of sputum with increased viscosity:
Bronchial asthma.
Pneumonia.
Tracheobronchitis.
Obstructive bronchitis.
Bronchiectasis.
Emphysema of the lungs.
Cystic fibrosis.
Tuberculosis.
Pneumoconiosis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
Peptic ulcer (in the acute stage).
Pregnancy (I trimester).
Lactation.
Precautions: renal and / or liver failure of bronchial disease, accompanied by an excessive accumulation of secretion, a history of gastric bleeding in children up to 2 years old.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
The use of the drug during pregnancy is possible only if the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
The use of the drug during lactation is contraindicated.
Special instructions
During treatment, a sufficient amount of liquid must be taken, which increases the expectorant effect.
The elimination half-life of bromhexine increases with severe renal impairment. Therefore, patients with impaired renal function should be prescribed bromhexine in smaller doses or in normal doses, but at large intervals.
In cases of impaired bronchial motility or a significant amount of sputum excreted (for example, with rare malignant ciliary syndrome), the use of Bromhexin 4 Berlin-Chemie requires caution because of the risk of delayed discharge in the airways.
The use of Bromhexine 4 Berlin-Chemie in children under 2 years of age is possible only under the supervision of a physician.
