For external use: bacterial skin infections (including impetigo, folliculitis, furunculosis); secondary bacterial infections (including infected eczema, ulcers, small wounds and burns); prevention of infection in small wounds and surgical incisions.
For intranasal use: inflammatory diseases of the nasal cavity (including those caused by strains of Staphylococcus aureus, multidrug-resistant and resistant to methicillin).
Topically applied up to 3 times / day for 10 days. Intranasal - 2-3 times / day for 5-7 days.
Ointment for external use, white, translucent.
1 g mupirocin 20 mg
Excipients: macrogol 400 - 587 mg, macrogol 3350 - 393 mg.
Hypersensitivity to mupirocin.
Children under 12 years of age (for intranasal use).
pharmachologic effect
Broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is active against gram-positive bacteria that cause the development of skin infections: Staphylococcus aureus (including strains resistant to methicillin, streptomycin, tetracycline, erythromycin, neomycin, fusidic acid, lincomycin, chloramphenicol), as well as other strains of Staphylococcus sapptococcus. spp. (including coagulase-negative); gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Moraxella catarrhalis, Bordetella pertussis, Pasteurella multocida, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris.
Pharmacokinetics
The level of systemic absorption of mupirocin from the surface of the skin and mucous membranes is extremely low. After absorption into the systemic circulation, mupirocin is metabolized to inactive monic acid and excreted by the kidneys.
Side effect
Local reactions: when applied externally, a burning sensation, tingling sensation, itching is possible; with intranasal use, rhinitis is possible.
Application during pregnancy and lactation
Not recommended for use during pregnancy.
