DESCRIPTION

Baytril 10% is an antimicrobial agent for poultry. In appearance, the drug is a clear solution of light yellow color.

COMPOSITION

The drug in 1 ml contains 100 mg of enrofloxacin as an active ingredient and auxiliary components: potassium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, water for injection.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Enrofloxacin, which is part of the drug, belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones, has a wide spectrum of antibacterial and antimycoplasmic action, inhibits the growth and development of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Escherichia, hemophilus, Salmonella, Pasteurella, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Streptococcus bordetella, campylobacter, corynebacterium, proteus, and also mycoplasma.

The mechanism of action of enrofloxacin is to inhibit the activity of the enzyme gyrase, which affects the replication of the DNA helix in the nucleus of a bacterial cell. When administered orally, enroflcosacin is well and quickly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into all organs and tissues of the body. The maximum concentration of enrofloxacin in the blood is reached after 1.5-2 hours, the therapeutic concentration is maintained for 24 hours after drug administration; excreted from the body mainly unchanged, partially metabolized to ciprofloxacin and excreted in urine and feces.

Baytril 10% solution for oral administration according to the degree of exposure to the body refers to moderately hazardous substances (hazard class 3 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it is well tolerated by animals, does not have embryotoxic, teratogenic and hepatotoxic effects.

INDICATIONS

The drug is used in chickens and turkeys for therapeutic purposes in colibacillosis, salmonellosis, streptococcosis, necrotic enteritis, hemophilia, mycoplasmosis, mixed infections, secondary infections in viral diseases and other diseases, the causative agents of which are sensitive to enrofloxacin.

APPLICATION

The solution for oral administration is prescribed in a dose of 10 mg of enrofloxacin per 1 kg of bird weight per day with drinking water.

Treatment is carried out within 3 days; and with salmonellosis - within 5 days. During the treatment period, the bird should only receive water containing Baytril. If no noticeable clinical improvement occurs within 2-3 days, it is recommended to retest the sensitivity of microorganisms isolated from sick birds to fluoroquinolones or replace Baytril with another antibacterial drug.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Slaughter of poultry for meat is allowed no earlier than 11 days after the last use of the drug. The meat of poultry, forcedly killed before the expiration of the established period, can be used for feeding fur-bearing animals or for the production of meat and bone meal.

SIDE EFFECTS

When using Baytril 10% solution for oral administration in accordance with this instruction, side effects and complications, as a rule, are not observed.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

The simultaneous use of Baytril with chloramphenicol, macrolides, tetracyclines, theophylline and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs is not allowed. It is forbidden to use Baytril 10% solution for oral administration to laying hens, due to the release of enrofloxacin with eggs.

PRECAUTIONS

When working with Baytril 10% solution for oral use, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for working with medicines for animals.

STORAGE

Store with caution in a dry, dark place, out of reach of children and animals, at temperatures from + 5 В° C to + 25 В° C. Shelf life under the storage conditions is 3 years from the date of production. After opening the bottle, the drug can be used within 28 days. Baytril 10% solution for oral administration after the expiration date should not be used.

PACKING

The drug is produced packaged in 1 liter in polyethylene bottles with a screw cap, which are placed in cardboard boxes.
